Yep, tried that, and everything else I could think of.....and I’m not a novice, I’ve wired an airplane instrument panel myself in the past.

I’m satisfied with how it’s done. Assuming it doesn’t fail the “spirited driving” test tomorrow by shaking loose, I’ll most likely leave it alone.

It took some trial and error when I was figuring it out. It could be the plug is different on the 991.2.

Registered an account here for the sole purpose of thanking you for this guide. It took me about 5 minutes to hardwire my detector because your post is so detailed — I literally spent more time picking the exact spot for my mount and getting it perfectly straight than I did on the install. Thanks so much!

Just completed this with my 2019 Carrera T and worked like a charm - 30 mins or less!

Only difference was that my plug was also blue on both sides, however, the wire colors were exactly the same.

Oh Oh! The V1 mirror wire I bought is only 12.5", end to end. Are y'all saying is too short for connectting my radar detector on my mirror mount??

Has anyone else used this location for their wire and, if so, what tips are there for feeding the wire?

Also, my '15 GTS only has one connector under the dome lights (circled yellow). Any thoughts on whether this "other" connector will work?

where did you get the windscreen mount please? What kind of adhesive is that. I have a new V1 on its way. Gonna try hardwiring it.
Thanks.

I see you used the BlendMount with your detector. Was the 15inch RJ wire ling enough? I am using the V1 with the Blendmount. I have the 15inch RJ and I am wondering if I need the 20 inch.
Thanks

15 worked with my V1 but I would go with 20 so you can tuck it more out of the way

Well I decided not to wait for the 20inch. Was motivated this morning. Did the install without the blend mount. Used the suction cups for a high install.
I am no DIY guy and this was easy thanks to the great thread.
Thanks to all.

Sorry for the late reply. I bought the mount off fleabay, It supposedly uses 3M adhesive. There is a link to it in my original post.

Default install parts

I just ordered the V1 window mount here on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-x-NEW-Per...72.m2749.l2649

Also ordered the Uniden R3 one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Permanent-W...72.m2749.l2648

And some clear 3M VHB tape; same as the black stuff supposedly on these mounts:
Amazon Amazon

And...the 15" hardwire cable:

Thanks again for making this really easy, takes 15 minutes with your excellent instructions.
So far the R3 has a lot less falses than the V1 on the same drive too.
