All I can say is "Whatever floats your boat"; in the meantime, I'm pretty happy with my Targa 4 GTS

Pretty car, nicely done. I thought the gts cars had a black targa bar? or is that only '17 and up?

The targa bar is black by default on GTS cars, but silver is a $0 option.

991.2 GTS Targa had the black targa bar with silver as an option, 991.1 Targa had silver only.

What do you like and dislike about the model?
My attraction is open air car with ease and still enough space to be somewhat practical for use several days a week. Not daily, just regular use driving for fun mostly.

TIA
I just traded by 991.2 GTS for a 991.2 Targa 4s. Very different cars. Both terrific and built exceptionally well. Neither is better than the other except they each do certain things better than the other. Here is my personal PROS and CONS for both.

GTS (mine was PDK)
PROS
Acceleration
Throttle Response
Handling is incredible
Can be a track weapon
PDK is incredible
Wide body
Huge wheels

CONS
Centerlocks (road trip anxiety)
Boring to drive around town
Engine notes to tame
PDK doesn't engage you

Targa 4s (mine is a manual)
PROS
Open Air when you want but not a rag top
Rigidity for an open air car
Engaging to drive
Gearbox is FUN
Looks (I love the Targa bar)
Handling is great
Wide Body
Lug Nuts!

CONS
Handling isn't GTS Good
Heavier
Some creaks and rattles
Not a track weapon but fun on the track

For how you describe you will use the car which is just like me I really think you would enjoy a Targa - go for the manual trans. Dang its a good time.

Good comparison ^^^but you can get a GTS with 5 lugs and a sunroof or cab.
Some of other differences are due to PDK vs MT options.
Just something to keep in mind.

true but that would be a GTS Targa and a tough allocation to get. If you get the lugged wheels on a GTS they are 1” narrower than the GTS wheels. But yes you are right.

I got a 5 lug black Porsche wheels on my GTS and they are 305/30-20. Same size.

just looked that the config -cool! That is a change from when I ordered mine 3/17. Then if you got the Carrera wheels with lugs they were silver only and 1” narrower. I would 100% go with the lugged wheels. Back then I didn’t bc I felt I was making a compromise with narrower wheels which I don’t want to do. Super they fixed that.

10,000 miles on our ‘15 and not a moment’s regret. I feel it’s a great blend of modern conveniences and traditional flavor.

I went for a 4s instead of GTS as I felt that the GTS suspension was to hard for the intended use of such a car. The Targa is more retro and GT cruiser then the coupe version and the 4S suspension on it fits it perfectly IMHO. GTS has a much more harsh drive. You might be able to shave some seconds on a circuit with a firmer suspension but then again you would probably go with a Coupe GTS, GT3 or RS. Also, as I wanted ventilated seats, Alcantara had to go. The black Targa bar can be ordered on a 4 S too ( I have it), so is Chrono Package (which I love btw).
