Tinting question for 50 and older....
So my recently purchased used GTS has no tint at all. I am wavering back and forth about tinting at all. I have tinted every car I have owned, but this is my first black car. At my age ,which is 57, I just want it to look clean and not limo'd out. I know I am not 30 anymore, but even though it is a badass sports car I would like some elegance, if that makes sense. So for you older folks like me, please be kind enough to please give me your feedback or pictures, on how I should tint or not. I really appreciate your input and time in helping me with this decision . Thanks again!

I was thinking about getting a light lint on my new 17 Cab S. But who am I kidding. I’ll be driving her with the top down 90% of the time. Even if it means blasting the heat and seat warmers!

I am guessing the younger owners love as dark as possible and maybe not so much for the little bit older owners....but I could be completely wrong. That is why I love this forum!

I think it depends on where you are located. If you live in a warm, sunny clime, then I think max legal tint is a good investment. I got it installed on my 911 about 3 years ago, and it keeps the car cooler when it's left out in the hot Texas sun - especially if you pop the sunroof open - and it is a bit easier on my "old" (50+ y.o.) eyes driving around in a tinted car...T

Go for it. I'm 73 and taking the Cayenne S in on Tuesday to replace the film the previous owner installed ( the job was very mediocre at best ) and going with the max allowed here in VA .... not going to do anything to my Carrera S Cab as I usually drive it with the top down and can't convince myself it would make any difference..... if it was a couple I sure would however...

How necessary tint is depends on where you live in SFL it’s a necessity. Up north not so much.

I go with a light tint (something like 72% or 65%) using a high quality infrared-reflective tint, on all glass including windshield and sunroof. I much prefer a classy subtle tint to a dark tint or no tint. I am 48 years old, BTW.

Sounds like most people do not drive at night. Any tint reduces night vision, and at 50 (or 60, like me) night vision has already begun unavoidable decline. Do you park when the sun goes down?

This is where I'm going with my recently acquired black 991, 3M Crystalline 70% with 90% on the windshield if they have it, amazing heat blocking when I tried a demo. Luckily these cars don't come with the "privacy glass" in back so need to match that. I have a red Macan and the darker glass is a good contrast but on black it doesn't work for me, and like many I need all the light I can get but none of the heat.

AM similar to you and just transitioned to "need reading glasses" age after years of excellent vision post PRK surgery. Night vision is fine for me but I do not like "limo" look tint especially at night. Also seems to draw unwanted attention from police types and while it looks great on show cars must agree and in magazines. I always go with a 35% tint on all of my cars and put the same on the rest of those in our garage. Is enough for me to block out a good portion of the heat (use ceramic - a bit more expensive tho) while still giving it a classy look also. Usually am able to blend things nicely even with factory rear tinted glass now almost standard on most SUVs. Here are a few shots....good luck!
