Hahahah. Very funny. Always good to order early, before everyone is trying to locate tires in May and June. I plan to order new rear tires in April.

Would love to hear your thoughts between the MPS4 vs MPSS vs stock Pirellis.

Mine are already on the car with about 500 miles. You'll be very pleased with how quiet and capable they are. Now if the weather would warm up a bit in...

I got my SC2s a bit early, too, as soon as the “backorder” (or similar) note came off the Tirerack page for the tires in my sizes. They make these in batches, and can be hard to locate once everyone’s weather warms up. So I got them and they sat in my garage with the new tire smell for a bit. Of course, after several weeks of unseasonably warm and dry weather here, I decided to go ahead and mount them on the car. No sooner than I did that, the weather turned cold and rainy!

Got mine delivered yesterday. Yeah, and the smell is actually intoxicating.

Can't wait to get them mounted. Question - how "new" should new tires be? The 305's were manufactured in April 2017, about a year ago.

Assuming you bought from a quality tire vendor, you'll be fine.

If you want to win at autocross then new tires should be NEW. ("When will they ship?" "Next week. They haven't been made yet." "PERFECT!") One year old tires are slow. Not slow enough anyone would ever notice without being very skilled, very competitive, and very accurately timed. But slow is slow, and one year old is slow.

For everything else, fuggetaboutit.

As far as age, anything within a year is fine. Even up to 1.5 Would be more concerned with the fronts since you will probably go through 2-3 sets of rears for ever set of fronts so you don't want the fronts to be too old.
