Quote: Oliver Berg, Manager GT-Product Porsche
One option that is not recommended if you ever want to sell the car is air-conditioning delete. “Only 20 the 5,000 first generation 991 GT3 RS owners ticked the box for a/c delete,” said Oliver. “The fact is that while the 14kg weight saving might sound good on paper the discomfort you will experience when wearing a race suit and helmet on track in summer is simply not worth it. You will be hot and bothered and slower because you cannot concentrate as well compared to when you are cool and comfortable.”

How times have changed. When I first started doing track and autocross, our cars didn't have air conditioning. Porsche didn't even offer real factory A/C until 1980 in 911's coming to the USA. My first two 911's I owned didn't have air conditioning. If you did track days, you HAD to have the windows down for air flow or else pass out from heat stroke. I'm amused by the thought of sitting on the grid with A/C now.....shows how old I am and how young you are, Peter!

Being completely honest, I find it hard to convince myself to go to HPDE any more. The window rules is annoying but it's just one of many annoying things about HPDE. This is a common theme in my life - I've become spoiled and impatient.

And why would you do an HPDE when you have....THIS...that's the right way to go to the track.

2018 Radical SR3

Always wanted one of those, but not enough to sell off my motorcycles to get one. Well done. Do you leave windows up on the Radical ?

Its working beautifully as did our own event.
Im sure PBOC and others will follow I’m sure if they want to fill up track events here in Florida anyway.

no one likes the buffer noise from the 991 platform with windows down over 100mph on the track

At our most recent customer appreciation day at Autobahn Country Club, one of the PCNA driving instructors told me they are leaning hard on the Autobahn mgmt to change the rules for Porsches, to require track time to be run with Windows up on modern Porsches. This is because modern Porsche restraint systems (seat belts/harnesses and multiple air bags) are designed for maximum occupant protection with Windows up. Otherwise, the airbags will not deploy correctly, and the occupants will not be well protected, in the event of a crash.

Good...and this is the absence truth...modern day cars safety is designed around windows being up. Also I’ve always thought it to be unsafe to be sticking your arm out the window to give a point by at 100 plus mph!

Ok yes, I'm not imaging that crap. Feels like my ears are going to explode at 100+mph on track. Opening / venting the sunroof make it any better?

yes, crack your sunroof. Or you can buy aftermarket replacement exterior a pillar plastic triangle black pieces that disrupte the air -buffer noise you hear - they look a little tacky

I did not own a car with (working) AC until vehicle number 11. That span includes almost 10 years in southern Arizona.
