Hey guys, question for you. I have a 2008 Boxster S I have owned for almost a year. Love driving the car on back roads. Love the way the car handles and feels. Don't like it on the Interstate (revs running 3k+ at 85) and my wife doesn't like it with the top up. Feels it is too small. And I don't like the Tip transmission.
For those who have owned or spent significant time in both, does the 991.1 feel significantly bigger than a Boxster or do they feel similar? I know the PDK will fix the Interstate cruising and the Tiptronic issues, but still concerned if it will be big enough for us. Just some basic comments will help a lot. Thanks.
Yes, I highly recommend you take your wife and you two sit in a 991 cab together. There is a lot of leg and head room and the small back seats make taking bags/purses/etc. no problem at all.

Says it well. Also driving experience is different 991is more comfortable and engine noises are different. Wife was much happier in 991than a boxster after test drives.
Drove 2003 Boxster for several years as my first Porsche and became hooked. Traded for 2003 996 cab. and enjoyed the top-down fun until this past summer when I found a 2013 991.1 Cab. S. There is a huge difference between the Boxster, 996 and the 991.1 in ride, performance, interior room and overall feel....more of a GT cruiser on the highway, but still has the track feel of the Boxster. Lots of early 991.1 on the market right now...shop around and you should find exactly what you're looking for....you won't be sorry!
I have over 60,000 miles of past Boxster seat time. A 991.1 cabriolet will feel much larger, and press all your buttons. Heck, a 981 Boxster will feel bigger than your current 987 Boxster.
I liked the Boxster but I love the 911! Boxster was great with the top down but always seemed a little too confining with the top up. The 911 feels spacious and just bigger in general. It seems like cars have gotten bigger over the last 10 years and I feel more comfortable driving the 991 in traffic than I did in the Boxster. I'm not sure I could drive the Tail of the Dragon as fast in the 991 as in the Boxster though.
