Nice documentation, Shagin. I found removing the bumper on my 2017 easier after removing the front halves of the front fender liners--and thus do not remove either headlight. See my thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1023...tallation.html

And with your photos of the internal grill, both during and after installation, I think these will not help me (sorry, Rennline). I am looking to keep debris out of the vent space, so the grill must be in front--looks are besides the point.

bkrantz; I wish I had seen your post, would have saved me some time. Agreed, removing the front halves of the wheel liner is the trick. I also would like to have the mesh grill at the front of the opening, but I do not see this possible with the adjustable air flaps.

I added a link to your post to my original.

shagin, I have been working on my own version, and have something that might work but need to sort out reliable and removable attachment hardware.

I hope that someone will make a product for the 991.2 Carrera/S/4/4S/T that is down this road—preferably mimicking the GT4/GT3 look and material and doing away with all three "slat" setups in the stock bumper. My suspicion is that the 991.2's nose will get MUCH cleaner and more sporting with such grilles. The slats are very busy, and distract from the clean design of one of the best looking 991 bumpers...

It would be difficult to overestimate how good the 991.2 Carrera/S/4/4S/T front bumper would look with screens rendered this well...

I wish it were within my skill set, or bandwidth. I would definitely pay for such screens, especially if the plastic surround looks factory. The fact that they would do a better job of protecting the radiators would be a major upside, as well.

It will just take Rennline, bkrantz, or whatever the overseas one is to listen to what customers are asking for—and I suspect there may be some challenges in terms of the slats as well as trimming the new screens.

However, if someone makes something that looks factory, I might buy two sets—one to install and one to keep as a backup in the event the grilles get damaged.

+1 - I'm with Pete on the look. Can the fin assemblies be removed from the bumper or is it one integrated assembly? If so, then fabricating a replacement to fit that location exactly is certainly doable. Does anyone have a PET part number? I know a few spots that might be willing to try...

Subscribed. This screen plus the sport spoiler lip would look awesome. Someone please make it and take my money...

I'm interested, for my 991.2 Carrera S, but would need a shop in Chicagoland to install . Any recommendations?
