Arriving in the next few days … my new 911 GTS
Just got a call from my Porsche dealer after 4 months of waiting! This is my first Porsche (before I get to old to enjoy one … turning 72).
Also just recently found this Rennlist Porsche Forum. Really wish I had found this forum sooner … like when, I had about a week to lock all the options on my order (Porsche Car Configurator nightmare) … could have asked the forum for much needed help! Anyway it is done and I feel pretty good about most of my choices, except omitting the rear axle steering.
Here is a quick overview of my choices (comments?):
* Coupe … Being an old guy and 911’s were always coupes in my mind.
* GTS … Liked most of the GTS exclusive features and was able to buy under MSRP.
* Guards Red w/Sunroof-Glass … My last sports car was a black-on-black Honda S2000 roadster that wasn’t the best choice in hot & dusty Arizona.
* Espresso/Cognac leather interior … I think it will be nice to have something other than typical black interior. Unfortunately, the Alcantara fabric reminds me of the old moleskin fabric used in cars years ago.
* LED headlights (PDLS+) … Just like the look of them compared to the standard lights.
* Enter & Drive, Power Steering Plus, Heated & Ventilation seats … my wife wanted them.
* Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel & Carbon Fiber Interior Package … more nice touches!
* PDK dual-clutch gearbox … After my day at the Porsche Experience Center in LA last month in a 911 GTS I was very happy with the PDK choice.

The Porsche Experience Center was great and the 911 GTS is so much more than I expected when I ordered it! My 60 year old instructor worked miracles on my lap times and by the end ... I was smooth and fast! Now I understand why so many that own cars like these go to the track … it is the only place you can start to explore the limits of these cars and your own. Looking forward to going to a two day driving course at the Porsche Driving School in Birmingham later this year. I have no plans on racing at any level but want to be a safer and better Porsche 911 driver.
Will provide an update and share a few photos after the 911 GTS arrives.

Congrats! Love the spec. Guards red is like a great classic sports car color. Same with your interior choices. I think it’ll look fantastic. Can’t wait to see pics when it arrives.

Congrats. Great looking spec! i am days away from getting my first 911 as well and the anticipation is killing me. 6 months since I ordered.
You will have a blast in Birmingham. I have done a course at Barber and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to going back again in the future. Will be standing by to see your pics when it arrives.

Congrats on your soon to arrive new GTS. You can join the local Porsche club and do tours and social events as well as occasional DE events to have your car stretch its legs. I did Birmingham about 6 years ago and it was a blast. Enjoy.

CONGRATS on your new GTS. Nice spec......I have a '16 GTS and the only option that I wished that I had NOT ordered is the GLASS SUNROOF. It gets HOT inside in summer even with the sunshade extended. Last fall I had the inside of the sunroof coated with darkest tint to cutdown on the heat. Seems to have helped but won't know until summer .......
