New base Carrera, MSRP discount?
Hey all, I'm considering a brand new Carrera from dealer inventory or perhaps ordering one. What kind of percentage off MSRP shall I try to negotiate ... 5%??? More off a car in inventory? I'm in Southern California. Thank you!

For a car on a dealer lot, you can get more than 5% but you have to work for it and it is region specific. In the NE, there is a lot of competition.
You can swing 5% - 10% on a 2018 and more on an older 2017. I got 5% on my ordered 2018 plus the dealer had to pay an additional $3k for European delivery.

I got 5% off on an ordered 4GTS. I would push for 8-10% on an ordered base Carrera and a good bit more for a car sitting on a lot, but I have no idea if that would apply to the So Cal market.

the problem is, allocation on 911 is so bad right now, most dealers are holding gross on cars (which is good, do not dilute the brand).
Porsche is looking to increase production on the GT cars and slow production on the base and s models.
I can get you 5% for an in stock today.

Its a good thing to have your vehicle not be diluted and hold value. Imagine if every Submariner was retailed at 7k and you got it for $3500? It wouldn't be as nice, would it?

Recent purchase 7% off on a 2018 off the lot. Was offered same discount on an order but timeline for getting the allocation was ridiculous.

I was in your position a few months ago.. However, my search started in fall / winter 2017 since i wanted a manual. I also casted my net fairly wide i.e to a 991.1 as well.
I ended up purchasing a 2017 base 991.2 of dealer lot in Florida at 15%. But, that had been on the lot for a good number of months and I live in Norcal.
Sucks Porsche is not allocating 991.2's due to 992 coming out!
First know what options you want and search all the sites. I would also befriend a SA since they can search there network for new cars. Wish Porsche had a nationwide inventory search like they do for used.

I was promised 5% on my custom ordered 2018 991.2, in the end I got 7.8% due to a screw up by the dealer in my lease quote. Entirely their fault. Very pleased with that - they made it right. I'm in SoCal as well.

Honestly, finding an allocation is tough right now. Availability in Colorado was basically zero a few months back unless you were OK waiting for a build in late Spring.
That said, I would reach out to a high volume dealer in SoCal like Beverly Hills, Downtown LA or Porsche of South Bay. Don't bother going to Northern California as those dealers won't likely budge at all.
If you're able to find an open allocation with a relatively close build date, order one. You won't regret it. Start at 5% and go from there.

This. Tried 20%. Dealer didn’t even counter. This was a 144K built. However it every option I wanted sans Spyder wheels in Platinum ( had to settle for the S wheels in platinum) Only until I told the dealer I have some my initial bid that we were able to get to ~17% including shipping. Great deals are few and far between. And I’m afraid it’s only going to get worse(especially in the NE ) when the weather turns. GL

I got 7% off in Aug on my 2017 C2. Nobody else was discounting more than that, ordering was one only got me 3% off. However, my car was in the color I wanted and had every option I wanted so it was a win!
