Question HVAC Temperature keeps resetting

OK I searched for a bunch of things and couldn't find an answer for this seemingly obvious issue with my 991.2.

When I change the HVAC temp, when I restart the car it always resets to default values (70 for driver, 72 for passenger). I've tried changing the values and then holding the memory function on the door but to no avail.

Why does it keep resetting to these really arbitrary values? Is there a way to have it just retain the last setting?

Thanks in advance!

Memory function on the door is for your seats.

You need to toggle your cars computer and find the function to save everything else.

You need to choose save last settings when locking car or something like that.

991.1 have this but I can find it talked about for 991.2's.

Switching Auto Memory on and off
You can configure the vehicle-function settings to be stored automatically on the vehicle keys when locking.

To save your HVAC settings on 991.2 vehicles, use the "key" memory settings on your car door. This overrides the value used in the vehicle menu saved memory value area.

^^^^ This

My first 991.2 had the "Auto Save" option you found in the manual but that got removed the first time the dealer connected to PIWIS (to make a totally unrelated change). Not sure why Porsche did this but my current 991.2 as well as my Macan don't have an auto save function. As ttsakai suggests - set what you want as a default and save it to the key and it will then always return to those settings.

Tried today. Using the memory function on the door does not work. Any other ideas?

Try savisa like you did, and then when you exit the car lock it with your key. Does that work?

This morning, drove to work, set temp to 66. Pressed Set then pressed 1. Pressed Set & then pressed 2 also (just in case I somehow was carrying key 2).
Left the car, locked, went into the office.
At 5pm, came out, unlocked, started the car. Temp back at 70/72.

This method does not seem to work on my car.

You have to press set and then the key symbol - not 1 or 2. The save option 1 and 2 are just seat position. The key symbol saves HVAC preferences (as well as some others) to the key.

Porsche's system of linking memory settings to the key sucks to high heaven. Terrible.
