From 991.1 GTS to 991.2 4S Chalk involuntarily
This post is long overdue. I frequent this site quite often and I have yet to post my tragic to positive story. A few months ago my 2015 991.1 Carrera GTS 22k miles was rear ended at a stop light on my way to work. The driver was 20 years old and barely hit the brakes before impact. My GTS was the perfect car - Manual, 4 way seats, no sunroof, sport PASM, LED’s, Black Alcantara interior with leather on dash and leather shifter/wheel. It was the most engaging, sonorous vehicle I have ever driven. It wasn’t the fastest, but it felt fast and put a smile on my face with every downshift. I was devastated when I walked around back after the incident, literally cried I think. The car ended up having frame damage and sold at auction for 75k.
So I thought long and hard about trying to find another 991.1 GTS. My car was my daily driver and I had to find a car pretty fast. My dealership offered me a great deal on a 2018 991.2 4S on the lot. I couldn’t pass it up. The new car is the total opposite of my GTS. It is a more comfortable, luxurious car equipped with PASM, PDK, Premium package, lighting package, lane change, Sport Chrono, Chalk paint. At first, I regretted making the purchase but as I continue to drive the car I am beginning to appreciate the engineering that has been put into these cars to make them the ultimate daily drivers. The 991.2 is stupidly fast compared to the GTS and the all wheel drive is incredible. It launches of the line with ridiculous force, low end torque is always there, and the steering feel is tighter. The equipped PASM is firm but smoother on all roads and the PDK, albeit not as engaging as the manual, is really nice in traffic and on the drive home after a long day. So....Would I take back the 991.1 GTS if I could? I don’t think so. I think Porsche has really made the 991.2 the ultimate daily driver. Now it’s time to save for a GT3 touring to put in the garage next to the 4S.
Added some pics to show how the Chalk really changes colors depending on lighting. It’s pretty crazy how grey it looks at times and then white or cream. It’s really a great color.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the 991.1 GTS but IMO tough times always lead to new beginnings of some sort and nothing happens by chance. Happy to hear you are ok and ended up with a great car. I spent a lot of time in the revered 991.1 (those 9A1 motors are fantastic) but the new 3.0 is also great in its own right, just two different animals! I had initial regret getting my .2 C4 instead of going for a CPO 991.1, but over time I am actually happy and thankful I went the route I did personally.

Glad it worked out for you and you've come to appreciate the replacement. The .1 GTS is a masterpiece and a hard one to top in terms of the excitement and feelings it generates. Makes me sad to see it in that condition. :/
.2 4S as a DD and GT3 as a toy does sound like a nice consolation prize though.

Sweet... sounds like overall you can chalk that up as a win! Ha.
I've also been impressed with the 991.2's effortless quickness... so I certainly get what you are saying.
