For those installing the Joyeauto (or any other kit really) in the US, you'll need some longer standoffs than are provided. It's a very tight fit due to the Sirius board and antenna connector.

Overall, you'll need (3x) M2.5 x .45 x 43mm male-to-female standoffs. Since that length isn't readily available, you can order these two part numbers (3 of each) and stack them up as seen below:
1) 31mm: https://www.mcmaster.com/98952A121
2) 12mm: https://www.mcmaster.com/98952A109

I also opted to put a layer of kapton tape over the components to keep them electrically protected should anything conductive find its way into the box or short while putting back together. Not required, but doesn't hurt either

Installed, it should look like this (the ribbon cables get slightly pinched, there's no way around this but it's not a problem):

Thx for the insight and tips. Just ordered Joyeauto and will attempt a diy install when it arrives in a few weeks. Wish me luck

At first i thought this was a great idea. But seeing how iffy and complicated this all is ( to me anyway) I’ll just continue to use my iphone . I have 30 or so albums loaded in the jukebox anyway. My wife's car has apple play and it is truly great, but not worth the cost and aggravation to attempt for the 911.

Is M2.5 or M3 the correct size for the standoffs? Both sizes has been presented.

It depends on how high big your SAT module is. Older ones are bigger requiring longer standoffs.

Mine is a 2016 and needed M2.5, M3 did not fit as I had ordered those based on this threads guidance.
The kit came with M2.5 standoffs that were less than half the length required.

If you order the part numbers I provided above, you should be covered for all sat radio configurations. If your requirement is shorter than mine (early or mid production car?), don't stack the short ones on top of the long ones and you'll have more clearance for bending the ribbon cables.

Hope you don't mind my asking- what would a reasonable installation price be for the unit and camera? A place is quoting $850 for the install....

Without rearview cam installation, I've paid $350, though initial estimation of the shop was no more than $250 (would be similar to rearview cam installation as they told me) but they started whining towards the end and keep telling me it is taking longer than they initially estimated. I would have installed it myself if I would have priced in the whining...

If I would have decided to install the rearview cam as well and if they would have whined about its installation as well, I would have been quoted $500 and end up paying $700. I think you have room for further negotiation.

Get several quote and ask a lot of questions from qualified installers. Always think ( Quality is Remembered long after Price is forgotten )

I paid $1100 to ACG Automotive, San Diego https://acgautomotive.com/
They took really good care of me and my 991.1 including the whole backup camera install. Considering the entire install takes 8-9 hours, i found that price completely reasonable. Besides ACG was highly recommended by Nick/NM Automotive and as far as i found they are the ONE AND ONLY experienced installer of the system in So Cal. Contact Girard at ACG and he will take excellent care of you.

I feel like routing that backup camera might be the most time consuming. It took me 8-10 hours the first time I did it. I made many mistakes and learned a lot of things along the way. Now I could probably do an install in about 3-4 hours.

It's actually not that hard, but the first time it's def intimidating.

I finally got the car back. I am blown away by how well the NM Automotive box works- almost seamless and definitely looks stock. Backup camera works well (though inexplicably sometimes the guidelines don't show when I put the car in reverse). The people I used for the install did a great job- so if anyone in the Midwest/Iowa area is looking for an installer, Fusion Auto Sound in Des Moines is who I used. Initially was quoted $850 but it took them less time than expected so they lowered the price to $765.
