Has anyone done a CarPlay retrofit for 991.1

Wizard263789, are you suggesting accessing the PCM's board by removing the DVD module (like in swandive's thread)?
stealthpilot, I was looking harder at the instructions, and while this system doesn't plug into the SAT connector, the board you install inside the PCM seems to sit right where the SAT board goes - attaching to the same mounting points. Wizard263789's suggestion of using standoffs seems reasonable. Hopefully he's done it and can confirm there's the necessary headroom. The Lsailt unit comes with standoffs and mounts to different locations. It is hard to tell, though, whether its included standoffs leave enough height to also accommodate the SAT board. I'd ordered the Lsailt unit with full Android (like a full tablet with GPS and wifi, not AndroidAuto) and it arrived today. I've not been home yet to see what's in the package. Maybe I'll have time to install it this weekend.

Yes on removing the DVD first and yes on the stand-off studs they were fine, well at least the one's we got and used were.

I've been following up with the vendor. It seems that the Wireless CarPlay will require different hardware. The manufacturer will probably pursue that, but timing is unclear and it could be a year out.
My inclination is to go ahead with the wired option. If the wireless one comes out next year, I can always do a swap of the external CPU (without opening the PCM a second time) since the existing PCM harness should be possible to re-use.
Given this and the time value of use, I am inclined to go ahead with the purchase. Anyone want to join me?
