Default Soul PP 991.2 Sport Cats for PSE Cars

I recently purchased and installed a set of Soul PP Sport Cats for my 2017 C2S Cab, and thought I'd post up my experience and thoughts.

First off, the Soul guys were fabulous to work with and made the purchase and shipping easy. The cats were extremely well packed and the quality appears top notch. Instructions were detailed and easy to follow (which seems to be a rarity lately for my last few aftermarket Porsche parts). The install is straightforward and really just bolt on. Some of the bolts are however a bit difficult to get to and require a bit of effort to remove/install. I installed them myself and am no master mechanic by any means. I did find it easier to remove the rear wheels as well as the plastic wheel well liners to allow better access.

In regards to the sound....I have had a prior 991.1 C2 with stock exhaust and then added PSE. I’ve also had a 991.1 C2S with an AWE Switch Patch Exhaust, and currently own a GT4 with stock PSE (and just added Soul PP Competition Headers given the experience with the 991.2 Sport Cats) . The new Soul sport cats on the 991.2 C2S remind me of a cross between the 991.1 stock exhaust and that with the PSE. It definitely takes the sound up a notch and overall increases the quality of the sound while maintaining the turbo characteristics. The burbles sound much better and less manufactured. It is not near as loud as the AWE Switch Path Exhaust which at times was a bit much.

I believe this is a “must” modification for guys who are used to a Porsche NA exhaust but want the torque benefits of the new 991.2 cars. Also, you can't beat the price. BTW....The 991.2 is my DD, and I have not had a CEL since the install 1 month ago.

Great write up and always gotta have a beer while working on your car! I noticed you have the flat top jack stands and wanted to know how did you get your car up on it? Did you jack the front first, high enough to fit the stands on the rear? Or did you use a central jacking point?

Thank you for sharing sir! Good to see reviews and inputs on these 991.2 mods.

So to be clear, you're running the Soul headers AND Soul sport cats or just the sport cats?

Hmmmm....I see a hammer in the tools used....lol.

I like your side stripes that say "PORSCHE" on the 991 Cab, where did you source those?

I agree with cbrett's assessment of the sound of the Soul Sport Cats, having installed them on my car a. month or so ago. For me, it makes the sound just about perfect for my 991.2 GTS. Press the Sport exhaust buttons and you are sure to turn heads...in a good way. The cats are a nice exhaust upgrade for the 991.2's. Ans, as cbrett noted, no CEL, And I will also note no stinky exhaust.

i jacked up passenger front and placed passenger rear jack stand. i then did the same for the drivers side. it worked well. the car is too low for my jack to get it up under the midline of the rear of the car.

just running the sport cats. no headers. i hope to get some sound clips recorded soon to add. i think the sound is great with just the sport cats. i have the competition headers from Soul on my GT4, which are just awesome.

yup, used the rubber mallet to "adjust" the factory cats.

i had them made locally in OKC at Lettering Express which does an awesome job. they are doing some decals on my GT4 as we speak.

https://kistudios.com/ does awesome work too, but i don't think they do the actual "PORSCHE" logo due to copyright stuff, but i could be wrong.

Thanks for posting your experience. Is it possible to post a sound clip or do you have an instagram or anything you could put a video on easily?

Soul has a sound clip up on their website, but i don't think it does the cats justice. i haven't recorded any clips yet. i'll try to do it this weekend. this setup combined with the factory PSE seems like the best bang for the buck exhaust system out there IMO.

We do not offer headers for the 991.2 Carrera - they weren't high on our priority list as we believe the trade off in spool time down low for slightly more power up top doesn't warrant a solution just yet. We're exploring options though. Here's a link to our full product suite for 991.2 Carrera (with PSE)

@cbrett Great job! I just got my Soul cats and was hoping to install myself instead of paying someone. Can you share how you removed the heatshield screw on the top towards the front of the car? What extensions, etc? I can feel the screw but could not come up with a socket/extensions combo to remove. I really don't want to take the wheels off because I have CL's. It looks like I might be able to remove the lower plastic wheel liner for better access. Thanks for any input you can provide!

Mike I have a Europipe Exhaust with their sport cats. Will I get more sound/performance using your cats and will they fit? I have a 2014 TTS 991.1

Thank you for asking. It looks like Europipe uses 100 cell catalytic converters while we use HJS HD 200 cell cats. I do not believe you would get more sound given the denser cat matrix of the HJS cats, but the HJS cats would be more stout and more resistant to check lights and emitting fumes.
