As others have said thank you for posting this, HUGE help! Not sure i would have pulled as hard as i did to remove vacuum line that was stuck in my intake without this DIY
THANK YOU!
Curious to know what brand people used for this job - OEM, Optibelt (which I understand manufactures the OEM belt), or Contitech? For those using Optibelt or Contitech, what has your experience been? Any issues to date? Thx.

I used Conti and have had no issues for 30k miles.
Great read but clearly beyond my skill level. Is this the same for the 991.2s?

Once you get "in there" it should be the same. Airbox is different and your COV's and vacuum lines might be placed a little different (I haven't worked on a 991.2). Having turbos shouldn't impact this DIY since they're down and out of the way on each side (but they make a spark plug change more difficult).
I replaced the belt yesterday. The main issue I faced was the bolt sleeve did not want to come out. So after wacking it a few times I had to loosen the 3 screws OP mentioned. I did have to buy a low profile ratchet for that since there wasn’t enough room to use a regular
one due to sharkwerk exhaust. Wacked it a couple more times and it came out.
The other challenging part was putting the serpentine belt on with one hand as I did not have a helper.
Fedex delivered the new air filters as I was putting back the car together so they went in as well which was icing on the cake.

Sounds like you did some other DIY stuff to. What is best guess on time to replace this belt?do you have a 991.2? Thanks

I have a little over 60k on the 991.1 so did it. If you are asking how long it took then it was a week . I took off the bumper last Sunday and then got busy. Each day after work I took off something else and then actual belt replacement and putting everything back took about 1.5 hours.
Just over 56,000 miles on mine so I thought I might as well do the belt. This tutorial was a huge help, thanks so much for posting it! This is not difficult to do, just a lot of parts to unbolt and put back together. Looks more intimidating than it really is. I love working on my own car. I wonder what the dealer charges for this?!

Just completed the belt along with the belt tensioner.
Regarding the bolt sleeve, factory instructions actually state to lever against the engine to allow space to remove or replace the bolt sleeve. Only a mm or two is needed, so not much pressure applied. See pic below.
The belt tensioner is a challenge, unless you have specialized tools. I used the below to allow clearance for the top bolt, and a thin extension for the bottom bolt.
Thanks again for this post. I finally completed this task. Took about 3 hours. Pelican sent me wrong belt. There are 2 belts for the 991. I needed the shorter one. I ended up buying at dealer for $77. It was only $50 through Pelican, but I didn’t want to wait. I’m very happy I was able to complete this task. Very satisfying.
My biggest concern was that sleeve. I tapped it out and back in again as suggested without loosening the other 2 bolts. Biggest issue was getting old belt off and snaking on new one!
When I took off air cleaners I noticed the dealer put on another heat shield next to the bracket that holds our air filters. You can see it in one of the photos. Thanks again! Here’s that sleeve that gave me pause... Look at shiny bracket to right of the filter ledge.
