When did they start taking 2018 Orders? I think it was May? Some online articles still say that the 992 will be a 2019 model year car.

Most articles I have read suggest that the 992 will be a 2020, available for sale in 2019. Therefore I would guess that 2019s will still be 991.2's.

That's my thought as well. At this point in the game I would be shocked if the 2019 were anything but a 991.2. If the 992 were going to be a normal MY2019 cycle, it would have been parading around auto shows by now.

I ordered my 2018 991.2 April 1st 2017 for a June build. I also ordered my 2014 981 March 23rd 2013 for a June build.

Porsche generally changes their model year build in June and can be ordered in second quarter. There are always exceptions and it get's really fuzzy when they change the actual model and not just the model year. Guys in the GT3 forum stated that there will be no 2019 991.2 GT3 models available fueling the rumors that the 992 will be a 2019 model (albeit later than planned)

Also, some dealers will not be upfront with you on the changeover of MY since they want to get rid of the 2017s on their lot or sell their remaining 2018 allocations. It is a dance.

I just searched my order history.
On March 14th 2017, I was informed that my Targa order was rescheduled to be built as a 2018. I missed the 2017 cutoff by a few hours.
This resulted in some PCM upgrades and a few other upgrades. (oh... and a price increase!) The car arrived at the dealer July 20th, after being held hostage at the terminal while the EPA granted certification to the new model year cars.

Hope this helps your planning/timing. Good luck!

Yeah, I figure if my delivery date keeps sliding to the right, I will wind up with a 992. Not sure how I would feel about that.

THe 992 is a new generation car that should come in early 2019 and the 2019 991.2 will be a short run car. I ordered my 17 991.2 in Oct. 2015 and got it at the end of March 2016. Same thing could occur with 992.
