Prior to changing out my OEM battery I applied supply voltage with my CTEK 7002 tender and I’m happy to add all the memory items on the car were retained. Before I changed out my battery I made a phone call to speak to a Porsche Technician. I inquired if reprogramming the ECU was required. He informed me the reason why they scan the system it to ensure no faults are recorded during the exchange. I used my iCAR PORii to interrogate my car
for potential recorded faults prior to and after the exchange to verify the car did not have existing faults. In all, the exchange took me 30 minutes to complete.

Sid, the cleanliness of your frunk, under the black shroud, is LexVan approved! Eye-spy a clean cabin filter, too. Nice job.

I changed out my battery last night and i stood in my frunk to accomplish the task. Standing in the frunk made the job flow easier since I installed the Interstate MTP-49/H8 battery which weighs 58.6 lbs.

Nice job Sid - I am interested in the Interstate battery too. Let us know how you like it and if you have any issues - keep us posted.

Will do! Before you purchase a new battery ensure you check and verify the manufacturing date if possible in person. If you’re ordering a battery and having it shipped insist they ship you one with a current date. The battery should have a sticker date adhered on the side or top. After I picked up my battery from the Auto Shop I verified the voltage and checked its condition with my Optima 400. I used a Digital Multimeter to verify the voltage at 12.83 VDC and its condition as normal with the Optima. So far the only complaint I have with the Interstate Battery is the weight.

Just an FYI on programming the new Duracell Ultra Platinum AGM battery into the car:
The dealer is going to do this Monday at a total cost of ... ugh... $106. I checked with the nearby Indy and they wanted the hour minimum $120.
I wasn't going to bother, but then I saw the voltage readout in the car hit 15 volts on my second outing after installation so I figure the ECU is now confused. It has never read beyond mid-14s before. It's been just a little lower but still going into the high 14s since then. I guess I'm willing to cough up the $100+ for the piece of mind that I'm not toasting the new battery.
I'll post another update after I see what the new charging behavior is once it is reprogrammed.

^Storm, would they be willing to do the "reprogramming " during your next oil change, and forego the +$100 charge?

That would be a great idea, but I'm still a few months from needing anything service-wise from them other than this. The thought has gently nagged at me each time I've driven since the change. I'm just going to get it behind me. It will also give me an excuse to hang around the dealership a little and eyeball the GT3's, the GT3-RS, and the V10 R8 they have for sale
