I've been using a Battery Tender with no issues. So maybe it's something specific to the CTEK.

I have a 2015 GTS and have waited days after shutdown and never had a problem using the footwell socket with my CTEK 3300. Are you sure you have the CTEK adapter plug firmly inserted into the 12V socket? Is the short red tip attached to your adapter plug?

Have a 2013 C4 and a CTEK 4.3 Polar. Plug it into the footwell socket and plug the unit into the wall receptacle. Don't lock the car and it has always worked fine and never powered down.

Plugged into the footwell plug. At least for now, I'm going to move to a direct-to-battery cable eventually.

Yes to both. What's weird is like yesterday when I opened the door it all turned on again and now it charged and ready to go. I didn't touch any of the connection.

My '18 GTS has only one 12V socket. YES, only one which is located in the passenger foot well. I have a Battery Tender that I plug into the socket, run the cord out the window that is cracked open a bit, then plug into an electric wall socket. I don't lock the car as it's in a secure garage. That's it. No issues, no problems, works just fine.

For those using ctek, do you charge in normal or snowflake mode? Our cars with AGM batteries should use the snowflake mode.

Agree. Same process used on my 2015 991 GTS. Works problem free.

Good information about snowflake mode, I've using normal for the last couple of years.

OP - I have the same problem. Seems to be the socket. It works most of the time, but sometimes it is solid initially and then flashes. I find that if I mess with the plug in the socket, it then works as designed.

From CTEK
Q. I have an AGM battery. Do I charge it in snowflake mode?
A. It depends. Optima and Hawker recommend snowflake mode. If there is no indication on the battery, use car mode for batteries over 14Ah or MC mode for batteries under 14Ah.

I have the Porsche branded one without the AGM battery option for my 2014 911 and plug it into my lighter outlet. I've locked the door or left the door unlocked and the lights on the charger remain on all the time. No problems.

^^^ Same one I use now and it works great. Previously had a CTEK 3300 and in snowflake or regular mode, outlet would power down after 30 minutes or less (but jump back to life once door was opened). I tested outlets using a USB phone charger unit in the outlet with a power light on it and sure enough, same thing, outlet powered down after 30 minutes or less (again, powered back up after door was opened). As somebody mentioned earlier, the cars must have some programming that allows outlet to stay on during use of certain maintainers, but cuts out if it does not "see" the right thing.
