I can plug mine into the footwell socket either right away or sometimes a day or two after I shut off the car, and it works fine. Maybe opening the door is enough to "wake up" the system.

I’ve connected my last two Porsches directly to the positive and negative terminals of the battery. What could bypassing the current monitor do?

I have also connected the CTEK charger directly to the positive and negative terminal on the battery for the past ten years or so (993 / 993TT)
The CTEK chargers come with the cable to do exactly that and works fine, never had a problem.
With a new 991.2 on its way I was going to give the 12V option a try ...

I have my ctek 3300 connected directly to the battery, I run the quick disconnect line out the opening near the wipers, it tucks in when not in use and I can’t see it, when charging I just pull it out and connect to the charger. So convenient, no issues.

I do the same but have a small plastic bag to cover the end. Wish there was a water resistant plug.

So...I have started to plug in the charger while the key is in the on position...and this has worked every time and has kept the charger connected. So I'm thinking that if the lighter switch doesn't sense a charge coming in it shuts off and won't take the charger.

I came across other posts about the negative (black/red) wire should be connected to a grounded source. Reading the "Good To Know" App section for "Charging the battery" it also says to connect to Ground point on the driver side. But I believe this is for using an external high power charger for dead battery.

So for the CTEK black/red cable, is it safe/Ok to connect to the negative terminal and red wire connect to positive? I've been using this for past years w/o an issue but now got me worried. Matt from OG seems to be connecting the same way for his GT3RS 6min mark.
