Default Oil Change alert

Just noticed an oil change alert stating oil change due in 22 days, 4100miles. What does that mean? I have around 5000 miles since last change that was done as i picked up the car CPO at the dealer.

It probably means that the dealer did not reset the alarm when they changed the oil previously.

Or the last oil change was completed 1 year ago (-22 days). The alert will come up based on time or miles. Do you have any other evidence that the dealer changed the oil 5000 miles ago?

+1

mines showing 15 days till it's due even though I've driven 3400 miles since the last change. What the computer doesn't know is I changed it in June. Every 6 months. Annually at the dealers. Oils cheap, engines aren't.

After looking things over, I believe that the car was CPO'd in December of 2016, and I took delivery in late January of 2017. The car (a 2013) had 12000 miles on the odometer. It now has 17600 or so miles. From what you all advised is that it is time for a change based on time not miles. Thanks to everyone.

BTW, how often should I change the oil??

Mine has the same issue. The dealer just reset it and has been fine since.

At least once per year for low mileage cars.

And, Porsche says every 10K miles.

I believe it's every 10k miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first.
