Man thats why i love this place....I didn't even consider wrapping!!!

I don't know why I didn't think of it, I have everything I want besides the color. Wrapping might be the solution as long as I can find someone to do it right and its easy to maintain. I am completely unfamiliar with the process and maintenance but I think I will do some homework and report back.

Any one have any experience in getting a wrap and what was your experience like??? Better yet any one have a recommendation to get it done in or around Atlanta??? Lastly any idea what a quality wrap will cost?

I appreciate all the input guys.
These guys are a Rennlist sponsor and do amazing work. I don't think they do wraps but given the high end services they perform, I'd reach out to Jean Claude and ask who he would recommend if they don't do them.

Or "dip" it. Way more color options and no tears, seams or film issues.

Don't like it? Peel it off and pick another color.

And here's a black to blue pearlescent dip on a TTS.

Bored? Change it... (same car, not sure which was done first)

I don’t think the quality of the finish on a dip is anywhere near that of a wrap.

wrap it + get the added benefit of paint protection

take a lot of pictures pre-wrap. if you ever want to sell, people are very skeptical of a wrapped car's paint condition.

you could always unwrap it but it might give you flexibility to leave that option up to the buyer. buyer gets 1 car with 2 color options.

Sell me your S and go buy the higher mileage 2012 Sapphire or Aqua blue S on PCA.org (can't remember which blue). I've been enjoying my C2 but still thinking about a C2S, and I'm in Atlanta too.

I too wish I had held out for sapphire blue. If I went with a wrap this would be my color. 3M blue raspberry. Down side is 3M states for ease of removal the wrap should not stay on the car more than 3 years. $7k - $10k for a 3 year color change is hard to justify vs selling and buying SBM. Keep in mind color wraps are not as thick and not as protective as clear film PPF.

I would think that 3 years would be worst case for a car that is outside in the sun on a daily basis. My guess is most 991s are garaged 90% of the time.

I wouldn't consider you crazy for changing cars for a color. I'd consider you insane. That would be a pretty expensive paint job.

But it's Sapphire Blue....

That's like the best color in the universe for 911s...

I vote that you sell it and find a SBM.

I was always a fan of this color but it wasn’t on my radar when I was shopping. I felt it was too “hey, look at me” for a car I would drive daily. I was pretty much set on Agate until I saw it in person and didn’t care for how brown it looked. Then I began searching for silver and white.

It just so happened the right deal and spec was on a SBM. This color has literally gone from a potential deal breaker that almost caused me not to buy the car, to probably one of my top 5 favorite things about my 911. I really can’t imagine not having this color now.

I have some experience wrapping cars and no wrap is going to accurately replicate SBM. Blue in general is such a particular color that if you don’t have the perfect Blue (which I believe SBM is) it just won’t look right.

So as long as it doesn’t kill the bank account, I vote to start shopping for a SBM and make the move when the right car shows up.
