Difference between 991.1 S and 991.1 GTS PSE exhaust?
I'm the proud owner of a 2014 991.1 CS with PSE, but when listening to 991.1 GTS's the exhaust seems to have more "pops" than the regular PSE. Is this caused by a difference in the exhaust? The powerkit?
Question: Is there difference between 991.1 S and 991.1 GTS PSE exhaust?

Short answer, no, there is no difference. However, PSE is required to add the powerkit, so they do work 'together'. Remember that the 'pops' are also influenced by if the car has gotten to full operating temperature. I'm guessing you have Sport Chrono package? I feel like THAT plays a large part in the amount of 'pops' (Sport mode vs. Sport Plus). Anyway...i have the powerkit but I can't remember there being a big difference with vs. without...HTH...

My subjective thought at the time I received delivery of my GTS (and thereafter) was that it had more aggressive/frequent/louder gurgling/popping than the S with SC and PSE I had test driven extensively before ordering. I also have a neighbor six houses up the street who passes my house at least twice a day in his 991 S PSE SC. Because of a speed-roll between our houses, he has to slow then accelerate so I get to hear both sides of that every time. (I love hearing it, by the way; like it better than hearing the other guy with California Spyder and less than other guy with 458. )
Anyway, I continue to think the GTS is "more" of everything than the S, but by a very small margin. It's subtle.

The pops are 100% due to software tuning.

LOL, well, yeah. But the Powerkit is a $15000 option that has a big impact on the engine. And it includes all the programming, which is specific to the GTS. Since the PSE burbling sound is a function of both the hardware and the software, it stands to reason that the GTS programming could have been set up to sound slightly different even though playing through the same hardware. The same way the 1963 Live At Monterey version of Miles Davis' So What sounds different than the 1959 studio version on Kind of Blue, even when played over the exact same hardware.

I had both a 991.1S without the power and one with the Powerkit. I don't recall any more "pops" or girgles or whatever but I do think that the Powerkit car (both had PSE) had a slightly deeper bark to it.
