Default 991.2 GTS idle whistling noise

Hello.
After 5000km, last time I drove it when bringing it home idling in the garage I started to listen at a strange whistling high pitch linear noise only when in idle in normal mode. Any acceleration and the noise stops and starts again at idle. Today happened the same.
What can it be?

Never happened before.

Best regards.

I read that Porsche purposefully induces consistent boost to help eliminate turbo lag. Perhaps it's that?

I could be wrong, I have 911.1.

I've noticed a whistling sound at idle while in Sport Plus mode, especially after bolting on a set of sport catalytic converters. I think you're right about the holding of some boost to reduce lag @s4one. I'm sitting at around 2psi when cruising and not in boost.

Hello again.
It does not sound like the whistle from the turbos... it sounds like a damaged bearings or something like that... and in fact it is.
Just to give you an update, had the car looked at Porsche today.
It´s the water pump. Will be replaced by the warranty.

Best regards.

Same thing in my Macan S.
At idle, car stopped, I can hear a gurgling sound, like metallic pigeon voice 🐦

I think it's an engine part or turbo...

At the beginning my dealer check the AC, under the car, into the engine..
Change AC compressor, switch some cylinder, but nothing.

Probably it's the new turbo engine

Now I leave with it but I'm hoping my new 2018 Carrera s will not.

Try to press sport button... It disappear.
Try to go completely right or left with steering wheels... It disappear

🤯

I hope, but I told so because in the past I was sure to resolve that issue, because dealer told me that, but after works the sound was there...

Hello again.
Just to give you the update. Water pump was changed by the dealer, problem solved. No more noise.
Dealer told me the new water pump they ordered is a different part number than the one my car had. My car is MY2017... maybe they solved this for the MY2018 cars?
Just another question... they put some perfume inside my car and I hate the smell. I like leather smell !!! Do you have any trick to remove this?

Best regards.

How loud was the noise that you were experiencing? Did you hear it from outside the car as well? Glad your dealership was able to diagnose and resolve your problem!

Not trying to flame or create panic, but three failed water pumps on cars this new is significant in my eyes, and points to an issue.

This one was a t-stat housing:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9901...lant-leak.html

This guy never got a follow up:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9966...2-carrera.html

This seems to be two guys but it was a tank issue....
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9328...991-2-a-3.html

So multiple coolant issues on the 991.2 but only three pumps so far....
