It’s a good idea to run the engine a bit to circulate the stabil after adding to the fuel. However, if you are just storing for a few months the gas won’t go bad. I use it anyway.

Yes. I should have mentioned that. Run it until you can smell it in the exhaust. It’s distinctive Then you are set for the winter.

Yes. Many years of hibernation periods . I use the red stuff 1 ounce per 2.5 gallons fuel.

In ALL my classics, even when not storing - just because it can take me a month or 2 to empty a tank on any given car if it's parked in the back of the garage - sometimes longer... Ditto on running the car a bit after you put it in the tank, you wanna make sure the fuel lines have stabil in them too, not just the tank... It's good stuff.

+1

Haven't tried it on a modern Porsche, because those don't tend to sit around...

I still use it every storage season, as Lex said put in in and run the car a while.

The Marine stuff, blue/green color, is also very good. Maybe better for fuels with alcohol. More expensive, and much more concentrated. A lot of the 993 guys use it.

Nope. Never a problem. Store with a full tank of gas. 10 yrs of unheated storage

Yes I do. Why not? Can only help the fuel and reduce moisture.

All additives, including natural biodiesel, are a surfactant (makes the fuel absorb more water). Playing part time chemist with a $15 bottle of additive is not something I would recommend if you are trying to address emulsified/free water to prevent fuel decay.

Additives and their claims are not regulated. Most have no scientific backing; just testimonials and maybe some pictures for effect. "Helps remove water"... really? really? Think about it. How come the refineries and the reputable gas station chains aren't all over these miracle elixirs?

Granted, many are carcinogenic. If you insist on buying into their claims, at least buy some rubber gloves with it and keep your family from standing downwind when you start up the car.

I always fill up with non-ethanol too for storage.

Try running that all the time regardless and will drive 30 min to get it.

Not sure about the science behind sta-bil.
