This is a cross thread from both the GT3 and GT4 forum regarding wheel carrier failure and the OEM bolts.

Just so people know...it’s not the wheel bolts but the brake caliper bolts. These bolts are used to hold the caliper to the upright. This happens, nothing new when calipers are taken on and off. The aluminum upright threads can’t handle this.

This is exactly why Porsche ships the cup cars with studs installed into the aluminum upright.

I have caliper studs on my 2017 GTS for this very reason. Makes taking caliper on and off safer and much much easier.

Best part is the studs from Tarett are only $250 for all 4 corners. Well worth it!

I installed on my last three cars. Aluminum is a step up to using plastic. Disgraceful design.

He may have been running spacers on caliper bolts to run larger size discs. That may have been the culprit if the bolts were not as long as they should have been. Not that switching to studs is a bad idea anyway

The Girodisks on my car are larger than the OEM, but the kit came with a spacer and longer bolts. I would be surprised that he added a spacer without a longer bolt.

The issue is repeated removal and reattaching the caliper stud into the soft aluminum upright every time you change the pads! I'll change pads 4 to 5 times a year.

Been on the fence about caliper studs, looks like this answered that question.
