Makes total sense to me. What a waste to go with your $100K car.

Default Customer service Beltronics (escort) Valentine

I think Valentine males the best non hard wired product but thier customer service is awful. The window suckers that came with mine quit and they would not replace (30 cent item). Also, they are charging so much for the software update that the unit is now a throw away. That said they make a good product (it's a shame their aholes). Beltronics (owned by escort) is also very good but again having owned 3 of their remote units in different cars they stand behind nothing. Much like Porsche you kind just have to put up with crappy sales and service if you like the product.

QUOTE=Porsche_nuts;14525392]Uniden R3, has long range and A LOT cheaper than Escort. Has frequent firmware updates too. Uniden listens to its customers and act on their concerns - unlike most of other companies.[/QUOTE]

Also have both, and agree with the above except:

- i don’t like that 360 volume turns itself down after it starts beeping, is there a way to change this
- what is the loud BEEP I hear sometimes.

I keep the Escort max on a beanbag mount. Easy to hide away or cover up with a baseball cap.

Wow. This was a can of worms I opened. I think I have taken away the following:

1. I am not getting am escort. Despite a fondness in my heart. When I bought my first car which was a 1987 Volkswagen GT in red (I remember I paid 11k for it new) I drove right to a stereo place and has a remote Escort installed. I thought I was so tough.
2. V1s are a safe bed and seem to have a mystique about them that makes them appealing.
3. The Uniden R3 is the new kid on the block and seems like a good value.

I appreciate everyone’s input.

1) You can disable the Auto Mute option, either on the unit itself or via a connected PC and/or their Escort Live app. (Switching options on the unit seems trickier than it needs to be IMHO, especially because of the very short timeout if you stop making selections quickly).
2) A single loud beep, if it is short, is a red-light camera warning. The unit shows a stoplight symbol at that time. The long/loud one is a laser warning, but I don't think that is the one you meant.

After reading this thread, I’m thinking about running without a radar detector.

So true.

V1 does have a great 90s mystique about it.

Let us know what you get!!!

And whatever you get, use Waze too.

The OLED display on my Escort iX is not bright enough to read in full daylight. Other than that it works well, range is excellent, the audio warning is loud enough. My threats are Ka and pacing. With the Escort set to Ka only, falses are eliminated.

I get more false laser warnings Escort MAX 360 than should be acceptable. Laser warnings are useless since they have you the moment you hear it. How can we filter out the false ones that come from LED, etc?

If you have the V1 bluetooth Connection mated to the app on your iPhone, can you still BT your phone to PCM, or can you only BT one item (V1 BT device or iPhone telephone)? Still trying to figure out what BT means and why they didn't call is something simpler!

ALP plus Bel STiR, except the latter is no longer available. BT phone connection. Radar alone is pointless. Laser is everywhere.
