I've always liked speed and walked my way up through sport bikes until I had a BMW S1000RR, another amazingly fast machine. It was the quickest sport bike in the world and I just loved it, both for the quickness and the ego trip of it. To me there is a big difference between quickness (acceleration) and speed (velocity). You can have quickness without abusing speed too badly. Like several others here, I understand liking to have acceleration on tap that I don't need. The Turbo S is the most affordable way I could get that. And I do like the ego trip of having one of the best cars in the world with my 911... I wouldn't mind adding one of the fastest to the ego-trip list as well. I doubt there are many of us here where ego doesn't play some part of owning these cars. There's nothing wrong with that. We've worked hard to get here.
As to PDK I'm big on the "to each his own" thing. Personally, I'm of the belief that a PDK is only "boring" if and when you choose to make it so by driving in automatic (typically in stop and go traffic). Otherwise you still get to make your own gear choices albeit sequentially. It no longer have the rare missed shift and I gain very measurable quickness with the rapid-fire PDK shifts. Did I mention I like quickness! I personally can't see giving that away... I'm paying a lot of money for a faster car and this makes it even faster with very little additional cost. I was a manual guy all my life until the PDK, but I don't miss pushing a pedal to the floor to make the shifts I decide to make.
On a more practical note, I don't think there is any way I would get my wife to take and Hill Country or longer road trips in a GT3 with me and I really do like having her come along at times when I'm not driving more "sportily". My C4S is about as noisy and firm as she can stand, and this is somewhat due to back problems she has at times. She also likes to be able to converse and I'm already somewhat hearing impaired. I'm pretty sure she would be just fine in a Turbo.
One final note. As Dennis states, I learned with sport bikes that taking a speed backwards in power is really tough to do. In all honesty all of my cars have felt somewhat slow since the S1000RR. One of the reasons I haven't even driven a Turbo or Turbo S when it was offered was because I didn't want to feel all of that power before I was ready to buy one. And like Dennis says, I doubt I would easily be able to step back from it once I did.

I found the 991 4S in MT and Guards Red which was a change for me and swiped it quick while my wife was feeling bad for me. Still a big butt, wide body and MT but there is no doubt I have been missing that big rush of power that I got from the Turbos. I never found them cumbersome or heavy just a dream to drive and drive fast and the TT'S are almost lag free.
Don't need a tune now, won't track it, my wife would rather I don't kill myself but would love that turbo rush back that only the TT can give.
Like I said previously the real test will be PDK but the 991 PDK trans is one of the best. So I'll drive it and see.

You are like me. When you finally get your car exactly the way you want it, it's time to move on and do it all over again. I would enjoy the car you have now, a little longer. If you still have the itch for another project, then move ahead. Understand it will happen with the new car too.

Don’t forget that the 991 TT and TTS cars have the “mega wide” rear end, even wider than the 4 and 4S cars. In case you need another reason to justify one....

Now that your ears have become accustomed to the sound your car makes....you will have a hard time filling that void with a turbo. Just be ready to accept that if you go that direction. If I were in your shoes, I'd find a way to get a .2 GT3 Touring. That will check all the boxes.

No doubt the Kline exhaust is awesome. I do have some great experience with my previous TT's all having Europipe exhausts. Quality amazing and sound awesome. That would be my first mod. So it will be different if I take the leap but still really good.

Drove the Turbo S today. Intoxicating power and amazing handling. In sport plus (race mode) the car is a schizophrenic rocket ship firmly planted on the ground.
I have been driving MT for over 45 years (yes I'm ancient) and I don't think this car could be driven at the limit in MT. Its gets to redline so quickly its scary. Good looking car in GT Silver too.
Nice car, great ride, if nothing else happens from here it was a good day already.

Great thread with lots of thoughts and opinions. I can't add a whole lot from the many great view points thus far except two comments. I have owned 7 911s , the first 5 were manual tranny, the 2010 997.2 and the current 991 are PDK. All have been cabs too. Once I start looking and investing time (precious time) into my "next" car, it's a done deal! Just a matter of time. That GT silver TTS is gorgeous. So is your GR C4s. But you are moving forward, I can tell. It's a done deal. Point 2, if you decide it was not the right thing (which I did once, had an '09 TT for 75 days, nicest car I have ever owned and had it the shortest time of any car), you can AlWAYS go back. No shame, no harm (except maybe some $). Good luck with your decision and keep us informed.
Ps, I'm the dude who had the factory X-51 installed into my 2013 C4s last December. Love the car still!
