It's still bolt-on. There are just a lot of bolts.
I haven't implied I'm a mechanic or anything close to it. I urge to look at the 991.2 exhaust system and then you're welcome to criticize me all you want. For a company that sells direct to consumer, you'd expect the sales pitch to be a little more clear than "direct bolt on" or whichever way you'd like to call it, Ryan_G.

I can't hear any drone whatsoever. I guess it goes to show that exhaust sound is 100% subjective.
Respectfully - it has drone. Are you sure you know what that means? Even the factory system has drone...

I wasn't attempting to be an ******* or anything. I have looked at pictures of the 991.2 exhaust system and there are clearly bolts that would be quite difficult to access. I am merely pointing out that advertising something as a direct bolt-on replacement does not imply an easy installation. Those are the exact words on the site by the way. "Direct bolt on replacement". If you do not need to cut, weld, bend, or bash existing components with a hammer then it is a direct bolt on replacement. That does not mean there won't be significant time or effort involved depending on OEM packaging. It's simply not something to bash a vendor for unless the product was designed in such a way that it made installation needlessly complicated.

The droning piece is a legitimate criticism of the system as it can be incredibly annoying to have a drone present at cruising or frequently street driven rpms. It's part of the reason you need to be extra careful when choosing an aftermarket exhaust because this is a common issue with many of them.

I beg to disagree. Drone to me is that annoying acoustic resonance in the cockpit of the car, more like a vibration... enough to give you a headache after a while. My 991.1, my 981 GTS and my Macan GTS all had PSE. Not one bit of drone.

The 991.2 exhaust is a little tricky to remove and replace (some tight spots). However, all that is required to swap exhausts is removing the OEM system and replacing it with your choice. The 991.2 exhaust design is a little more work than some others to R&R because you must remove the catalytic converters in order to free the exhaust and that requires removing the turbo heat shields, as well. Everything is hard to reach and takes a little time. It took us about 1 1/2 hrs. the first time and about 30-45 minutes after doing it once and understanding what is required and the best access points.

BTW - We designed a fantastic sounding PSE X-Pipe system for the 991.2 Even though they may look the same, all X-Pipes are different and have very different sound characteristics. We always place the elimination of drone as the top priority in all our exhaust designs. I did not detect any drone in our final SpeedTech PSE X-Pipe system for the 991.2

Thank you for the kind words, Scott. Customers should ALWAYS come first.

Respectfully.....Why do you ALWAYS seem to think other owners know less about everything than you?

Haha. You are right. It's just when everyone's favorite dad chimes in with unsolicited advice. You know how dads are, they don't care what day it is when trying to help us dumb kids learn how things work.

I started this post to let prospective buyers know that you're basically S.O.L should your Fabspeed product not live up to your expectations.

To the people that disagree with it: Opinions are like ********: everyone has one but they think each others stink

Fabspeed are good people. If you read any of my previous posts on their exhausts though you would know that they have tons of drone. I learned that with a Boxster Spyder in the past and have never bought another exhaust from them again. It's just not for me. They are not going to please everyone. Many people love their stuff and that's great. I suggest you get a partial refund or just sell it privately and move on.

There have been others installing Fabspeed on their 991.2 that have had significant issues, and Fabspeed did a ****-poor job of correcting it, and even worse with the customer relations aspect. I for one, will stay far away from Fabspeed in the future

Before I bought it, I could not find one specific post re their 991.2 x-pipe as a standalone product for my car.

Perhaps my mistake was not asking for a refund, even a partial one. My perception after my conversation today with their CSR was that a) sound is subjective, b) drone sound depends on who's listening, c) it is not covered by their warranty or return policy. But no, I did NOT specifically ask for a refund, my mistake. I may be too naive...
