Default Question for Targa Owners

Hi, I'm a first time Targa owner and have a question about the top closing.

When the fabric side of top comes down towards the windshield frame it seems to move at an expected cadence, and then maybe 3 inches from the windshield it seems to "fall" to the top frame with a thud before the final lock mechanism closes. Is this process normal?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Well...she just got home...closed the top...and yes, mine functions exactly as you described. Not sure if it is normal, but mine is a 2018...so, I would guess that is the way it is supposed to operate.

I've been wanting to post this Targa picture for weeks. Here might be a good spot for you Targe lovers! One of our local PCA members concours cars. A one family car with over 100,000 miles. Current owner's father took delivery in the early 70's in Stuttgart. I sure hope your 991 targa tops hold up this well in +40 years. I think the 991 Targa is one of the best looking 991s.
