991.2 19” OEM wheel (19 x 8.5, 19 x 11.5)

With the N-spec Eagle F1 tires: F = 44.8 lb, R=53.4 lb

According to TireRack the tires are 22 and 28 lb.

Therefore the wheels are 22.8 and 25.4, including sensors.

These wheels are made by Speedline in Italy.

Mostly posting this because someday I’ll wonder about this and end up finding my own post.

The only forged OEM wheels I am aware of are the GT2/3 wheels and the 50th anniversary Fuchs. Even my Sport Technos which are the exact size and offsets (Wide body version) as the 50th Fuchs are cast made. This is 991 wheels! The Sport Design are the heaviest and the S wheels the lightest. Lighter is good but not at the compromise of strength. Just saying.

I got a set of BBS FI-Rs that are almost 10Lbs lighter per wheel than the Sport designs but being fully forged are supposed to be as strong if not stronger according to BBS. It may all in my head, but I believe I can feel a difference in how the car reacts to bumps and road imperfections.

Strong and stiff are not the same. Stiffness is what you could potentially feel. Strength is what keeps the wheels from bending or breaking in potholes.

I think he is simply saying the lighter wheel feels different. Less weight,....10lb/wheel,....would potentially react differently over rough surfaces.

Per Porsche, it looks like the center lock wheels that come stock in the GTS and Turbo S models are forged. The "plain" Turbo 5 lug wheels, which are optional in the Carrera models, are also forged. The sport classics are also forged.

"Wheels

The 20-inch 911 Turbo wheel

Forged, of course, to reduce weight and unsprung masses. With highly polished wheel centre.

The 20-inch 911 Turbo S wheel with central locking device

This partially black painted and highly polished aluminium wheel has been forged. It is especially light and sets standards in driving comfort and performance as well as in design. With central locking device including chrome-plated wheel centre with fullcolour Porsche Crest – and anti-theft protection.

The 20-inch Sport Classic wheel

As an option, you can select alloy wheels forged in a single piece with the fivespoke Sport Classic design. The spokes and centre have a GT Silver Metallic paint finish and the rim has been high-gloss polished. The wheel centre bears the Porsche Crest in full colour."

Today I fitted our new "from Porsche - Germany" Carrera Sport wheel set: 20" wheels with new P-Zeros and TPMS. I weighed the wheels using a very accurate suitcase weigh scale. Fronts 40.5 lbs each; rears 60 lbs each...this is of course the complete wheel/tire unit.

That front wheel sounds very light. Sure you didn't mean 50.5 pounds for the assembly?

Too late. The wheel sets are on the car and I don't plan to take them off to re-weigh them. But you are correct. Checking my hand notes I see that for the fronts it was 49.5 lbs per wheel. Much closer to your number. Thanks for the reality check.

I do believe tires has different weight variation; hopefully lets keep the wheel weight and tire weight separately. mixing it together to do a data collection may not be focused data.

just saying..
