Depends on what you mean by "necessary."

In the grand scheme of things, a 911 really isn't necessary.

This. My number one reason to get the SC package.

If you like to corner hard, you'll want this.

On a manual trans rev matching only in sport plus not sport

991.1 yes. 991.2 different: both. I wish for an option to disable rev match entirely. Had this been available I might have considered SC on my 991.2 C2 MT. I don't want a computer messing with the throttle.

Only in the 991.1/981. In 991.2, rev matching is available with sport + AND sport. It's a change.

It's there. Just deselect PSM and rev matching goes away. It's a little known fact.

I like the clock in the centre although I've never used it so far. I have a MT and I enjoy the SC.

Necessary? not really, that's why it's an option.

This is more of a personal preference thing too.

On PDK car, are the shift points in sport mode different with sport chrono installed?

Also, Porsche mentions Sport Chrono includes “throttle blip” on downshifts? Does the PDK not already do that without Sport Chrono?

get the 991.2s with pdk/sports package and you'll enjoy it immensely!
