Beauty is of course subjective, but I wouldn't say my old R8 V10 Spyder was "blah." It also may be the only convertible I've ever owned that I thought looked better than the coupe version. I never liked the side blade.

In your pic I immediately love the 911, think Meh on the r8. Wish it wasn't true but it's not a sexy design really.

 

Love both by 991 targa and my r8 v10 plus. Something special about the NA v10, unfortunately no manual for the newer models.

 

A lifelong Porsche fan and continue to have a incurable addiction for them but the R8 is a beautiful piece of machinery. My wife drives an R8 Spyder V8 Manual and I steal her keys regularly. Its certainly not as a nimble as the 911's but IMO it has a presence and its is beautifully executed.

 

I was always underwhelmed by it when they first came out. They've grown on me. And the V10 exhaust note is stupid good. Hell the V8 sounds awesome too.
