911 GT2 RS wait list
I am interested to know if anyone is trying or successfully getting on a wait list for the new GT2 RS? I am supposedly on 2 short lists. Does anyone have any experience from the previous generation GT2 as far as the ability to actually get one. Does anyone have any idea as to price and number to be built? I know it's early, but I want one!

Haven't heard anything on production numbers and therefore wait list etc., but you can get a feel for the price and top level specs from the last ones.
2010 GT3 RS weight: 3020 lbs
2011 911 Turbo S - $160,250, 530hp, 3550 lbs +/-
2011 911 GT2 RS - $245,000, 620hp, 3020 lbs
2015 GT3 RS weight: 3150 lbs
2017 911 Turbo S - $188,100, 580hp, 3600 lbs +/-
Based on that I'd guess it to cost a touch less than $300k and offer 650-700 hp and weigh around 3100-3200 lbs. Sounds like a lot of fun to me; maybe with the next generation in ~8 years I'll be able to afford one.

If you are looking to get on a wait list now, you're essentially putting your name on the wait list for the 992 GT2 RS.
As to numbers, figure around 650+ hp (but less than 700) and around 250k-275k MSRP in the U.S.

I got denied a spot long ago even at an expected ADM of $100k which will put the car at $350k+. My guess it will be next to impossible for us mere mortals to buy new.

When I questioned my dealer he said like the 911R, Porsche is deciding the allocations and not the dealers. I think this is how it worked with the 918's as well, although I'm not sure.
He was able to guarantee a 991.2 GT3 RS, as it is a "production" car and the dealers decide on the allocations.

All I can say is I've found it harder than the RS to get an allocation spot so far...and I've been trying for almost a year.

Each dealer will get half as much allocation on the GT2RS than the GT3RS. So yes, it will be that much harder to land a GT2RS allocation here in the US.
