Cobb "Stage 0" on a non-S Turbo.
Just curious if the Stage 0 tune is the exact stock tune or if it boosts a non-S turbo up to the Turbo S stock h.p. I had to install the Stage 0 tune because I was having some weird issues with both the Stage 1 & 2 tunes. But even with the Stage 0 tune my car feels faster than before. I did also add a Tubi sport exhaust & cats.

Fluctuating boost when I give it more than half throttle or so. And twice I've had a banging sound and sudden drop in rpms which scared the *#@& out of me. I pulled the fault codes after those two incidents and it was two different PDK faults each time. Doesn't happen with the stock ECU or the Stage 0 tune, but it's happened with both stage 1 & stage 2 tunes, even with just the 91 octane stage 1 tune. I'm calling COBB tomorrow, but I'm not running anything but the stock/Stage 0 tune until this gets sorted out.

The best gas up here is 90 octane. I added 32oz of Torco to that. Do I need to add even more?

Scratch that. I found a place that sells Sunoco 100 racing fuel. I'll try that and see if it fixes things. I have no problem with paying more for good fuel.

Actually most Racing Fuels use Octane Boosting chemicals that can be very corrosive to gaskets, rubber seals and many metals in the fuel system.
In practicing for Daytona Rolex Races we were required to use Exxon Racing Fuels but drained our tanks every evening to prevent overnight fuel system damage.
Personally I used 100 Octane Aviation Gasoline wherever possible racing, which actually is much closer to 115 Motor Octane. AvGas is very stable and can be left in tanks for several years without damaging anything or becoming gunk.
Most Turbocharged Engines love AvGas but Catalytic Converters not so much.
100 Octane Avgas is available at most airports.

One of the guys from COBB got back to me yesterday and suggested installing one of the SBR (Stock Boost Response) maps and do a data log. I thought the tuning map I was using the last time I had problems, but I'll try it again with a fresh tank of gas and another 32oz of Torco added and the lowest-level tune possible 91ACN w/ SBR.

That seems to have fixed the issue. I dumped in two 32oz cans of Torco just to be on the safe side. A tank full of 90 octane gas with half a gallon of Torco added to it should get my overall octane up to around 96 or so. I'm going to start testing some of the more aggressive COBB maps to see if they also run well now. Does anyone see a problem with using this much Torco on a regular basis? Besides racing fuel, all automotive gas in Alaska tops out at 90 octane. That's less than Porsche recommends for a car without any mods.

Happened again today after the car drove just fine yesterday. It wasn't as dramatic before, but the first time today that I gave the car more than half throttle, the engine felt like it kind of hit a wall, lost power and the rpms dropped to 4,000. I immediately removed the COBB tune and now the car drives just fine again. I'm going to email the guys at COBB again, but I was curious if anyone here had any ideas. The problem always happens right at the point where you can tell the COBB tune is working, the point where the performance feels significantly different from stock. I obviously can't ask the dealer about this, but is there anything mechanical that could cause this? Something related to the sport cats & exhaust I had installed recently, like an exhaust leak from something not being installed properly?

Nah, still having issues, now even with the COBB tune removed. It's either something related to the install of the exhaust/cats or there's something wonky with my PDK. I'm going to park it until after the holiday weekend and then talk to the shop that did the exhaust install to make sure everything was bolted down tight.

The problem turned out to be a vacuum leak on the intake side. Some sort of clamp or hose has come loose between the intercoolers and the throttle body. Before I take it into the dealership, I was wondering if there's a known weak point in there that can be upgraded so this doesn't happen again?
