Anybody know what power steering plus option is/does and is it a must have?
Hey
I'm looking at a 2015 TTS cab with 3,600 miles that is loaded with everything I want CPO'd (they're asking 196k). It does not have POWER STEERING PLUS. What the hell is this and is it a must have?
Thanks

Burning Brakes
Had it on a 2013 991.....don't miss it on 2015 TT.
I believe I read the software (coding) can be programmed in or out w/dealer's computer.

Drive it before you decide. It lightens up the steering at low speeds. Some love it b/c it makes parking etc less effort, but to me it feels artificial and ruins the experience and besides I've never had issues with the weight of the steering when parking. The only way to know how you'd feel about it is to drive it.

Wow tough crowd here. Seems the only ones with issues are those without it. I've driven both and had to be told which one had it as I couldn't detect any discernible difference during any type of driving. Exception: Parking in a spot the steering feels lighter though but any speed above a very slow walk you can't feel it....well I couldn't anyway. Agree with Honda, it could only be a software reprogramming thing anyway. But like many subtle improvements Porsche will charge for whatever they can get away with.
Re it being a must have? Probably not. But it is nicer if you do a lot of tight parking.

Speed21 got it exactly right. If the car has it, I wouldn't let it deter your choice at all. It won't affect the performance of the car. I got it on my new 911TT even though I didn't want that option because I worried it would be too noticeable. It's fine.

I ordered it, no issues here. But it only engages at low speed. Steering feel is same once you are at speed from what I've read. So I see zero disadvantage to having it. You can always have your dealer remove it, simple software change.

I like it, but park that car and see if you think it's tough to park. Like others have said, it's not noticeable except in a parking lot.
Secondly, even though you didn't ask, $196k for that car is probably above market price!! You can order now and get a '17 991.2 in April/May for a few bucks more and you will more than make up any difference with the depreciation you will save. That car should not be more than $170k tops. I'd bet they didn't buy it for more than $150-155k. I'm curious how it ends up.
