Default 996 tt m6 to a 991.2 c4s or turbo

Need help deciding between 991.2 c4s or 991.1 or .2 tt. My heart is with the tt's but the c4s has features the tt's don't. C4s might be similar power and performance to my 996 tt with better tech and features for sure. Will the c4s be satisfying enough or will I need the injection of the tt? PDK across the board. Also stuck on Carplay...kills the .1 tt then prices shoot up on the .2. All over the place here. Any experience out there with this? Thank you!

As a former 996 owner (996 C4S, not TT), I can tell you that they’re very different cars. The 996 interior and overall driving experience will feel ancient compared to the 991. That said, the smaller feel and the overall feeling of the clutch and steering in the 996 are fantastic. Additionally, the 996 and 997 TT cars have significant turbo lag compared to the 991. The 996 on full throttle will feel sluggish when you first press the throttle pedal to the floor, but when the boost comes online, hold on! It’s a rush and one of the fun things about that generation of 911. Have you considered a 997.1 TT 6MT? I owned one of those and it was great. It’s still not new enough for CarPlay, but it feels much newer than the 996 cars.

Porsche makes incremental improvements to each generation of the 911. Some of these are more noticeable than others. For me, one of the most noticeable was the chassis improvements from 996 to 997 to 991. It’s significant. How will you use this car? Weekend warrior or daily driver? I think the answer to that question is important.

I suggest that you try to drive each of the cars that you’re considering before you buy one.

a 996 tt (manual) is a great buy right now. Great engine and chassis and durable as hell can be modded without limit as desired.

I am a 5 time TT owner, previous 3 996 TT’s- 1 997TT, with a 991.1 TTS. Once you go the TT route it is really hard to go back. The TT is the best daily driver super car on the road in my opinion. The 991.1 TT & TTS are fast, nimble and modable to frightening hp levels if that’s your goal. I have a Stage 2 custom tune and very little on the road can compare. Built rock solid I’m nearing 60k miles with no major issues over 10 years.

Wondering what features are on a 991 C4S that the 991 TT/TTS do not have?

Adding Carplay/Android Auto is an easy mod with products out right now. I added Mr12volt with no problem.

My biggest reason for getting out of my 996 tt is that my knees hit the steering wheel, I cant straighten my leg and get cramps. I'm 6'3" and am not comfortable. I also want newer tech to drive it more often and feel confident my body wont get in my way. PDK to give me more leg room to stretch out. Just always been infatuated with the Turbo 911. I'll be driving a 991.2 c4s and a 991.1 tt today to compare, both PDK.

So 991.1 Carplay upgrade is easy to do? You have a recommendation?

I'm 6ft 4in and do not have issues with my legs/knees in the 991.

Many of us have done it. There are multiple aftermarket options to add CarPlay to the 991.1 platform.

I’m 6’4” and I was comfortable in the 996, 997, and 991. The 991 has the most interior space, but preferred the comfort of the adaptive sport seats from the 997.

I currently have a 991.2 tts, 996 turbo x50 and a 996 cabriolet. When I purchased by 991 tts last summer, I was comparing a loaded 991.2 C4S with the power kit. After driving both, it was a no brainer to go with the tts even though there was a substantial price difference. The 991 tts is a beast!

As you can tell, I'm new to the forum and one year in as a Porsche owner. I drove a 991.1 tts today as well as a 991.2 c26 and a 992 targa. I'm still impressed with the 991 body style and comfort. Any reason not to get a 991.1 tt over a tts? Thinking only of price difference, still a beast. Your thoughts?

Mr12volt. I had NM Automotive's unit in my 997GTS, and it was fine. I went to the Mr12volt due to digital signaling.

I went directly to the TTS when I decided to go that route, 18-way seats and PCCBs were high on my list, the hp not so much. Honestly, didn't compare standard equipment of the TT to the TTS, but I can attest that the TTS pieces like PTV have made me a better driver. Compare equipment levels of available cars, and see which meet your needs/wants.
