Cam shaft actuator

I'm posting this in case it helps any member with a similar problem.
Last week pulling out of the grocery store lot (yep, my Turbo is a grocery getter), I threw every code known to God (Engine malfunction, PSM malfunction, AWD malfunction) and all said I could drive carefully to a dealer. The car was chattering/vibrating severely, especially starting out and under any load. I limped to the dealer and found that an entire bank was misfiring. Turned out to be a cam shaft actuator, the electric-hydraulic gizmo that changes valve timing on the fly. They were back ordered in Germany, but, fortunately, Porsche's dealer inventory search found one in the US, and it got shipped to Tucson and installed. End of problem.
As usual, a shout out to Sam (who had tuned the car last year); he offered to help in any way he could. The dealer mechanic was happy to get his contact info as he knew Sam's reputation, but I think the mechanic had already isolated the problem.

Happened to my 996 - the solenoid, actually. Then the other side failed and took out a transistor on the DME.

Thanks for the feedback on my cam shaft actuator failure. I just had the plugs replaced (4 year maintenance) and the engine feels smooth. From what little I know about fouled plugs, I think I'm OK, unless you all think I'm in denial....
