What is this part?
Can someone identify this part and tell me if it does anything or if it can be removed? I’m putting in IPD Y-Pipe and Plenum and I’m not sure what it does! Thanks for the help as always

Looks like the Sound Symposer.

Yes it's real and yes I have deleted it.
Get a heavy duty cap that fits the bung on the y-pipe and secure it with a strong clamp, not the simple spring clamp that holds on the symposer. Add a small piece of duct tape to cover the hole that goes into the cabin.
Cleans up things nicely.

My buddy had some he purchased, I think on Amazon, I'll see if I can get a link to it. I think they were heavy duty silicone reinforced caps...
With just the spring clamp, I detected air leaks. A stronger worm drive clamp and all is tight.
Here's a couple of pictures from when I was pressure testing everything (soapy water spray everywhere). You can see the capped off port that normally goes to the symposer on the left side of the y-pipe. Some y-pipes don't even have these ports, and I guess some have welded a cap over it, but my flexible cap solution has worked great so far.
