Reading this thread, I thought that I should chime in. We produce a full 3" X-Pipe exhaust that does not drone. I run it on my personal 991.2TT and I have never detected any drone and I am very sensitive to drone. Additionally, I have been told by numerous customers (many are members here) that our SpeedTech 991TT 3.0 Level 6 system does not drone at all. If anyone would like to discuss a drone free 3.0 system with glorious sound characteristics, feel free to contact me. I have exrtensive seat time with all of our systems, including our very special 991.2 "GT2 style" valved system with switched cat dump pipes.

100 cell HJS cats. Plenty of turbo whistle, no drone, great sound. A lot of it has to do with the overall exhaust design. I have been building and testing X-Pipe exhausts for Porsche turbos since the 996TT and have R&D'ed them all with the goal of obtaining the best sound characteristics and eliminating drone by varying the design parameters (in fact, when we made and introduced our 1st 996TT X-Pipe back around 2008, there were no other X-Pipes on the market for the Porsche turbo, now virtually all manufacturers have gone to it). Not all X-Pipes sound the same, small variances in the design affect the final sound characteristics and we have learned a lot about this over the years of product development.

I'm running this exact setup from Speedtech and it's great. No drone and can take the wife and pups to a long drive and be totally fine.
Open it up in sports or sport + mode and it's super commanding. Both performance and sound.

This true. On my 2nd Europipe on 2 different TT Pcars. Excellent workmanship, no drone, great sound.

I've either installed and/or experienced quite a few 996/997/991 Turbo exhausts including Soul, Kline, Europipe, Fabspeed, Topspeed, Akropovic, Sharkwerks, Markski, Unobtanium and I'm sure a few others I've forgotten, but haven't personally installed or heard any of John's SpeedTech exhausts. I'd like to rectify that someday...

Another clip of the same setup as above. This is before I tuned out the excessive burbles and pops. It sounds fine in this particular clip, but the decel 'pops' sort of became decel 'BANGS' that were way to loud for me.

This sounds really good and has a proper flat-6 throaty sound. How much of this sound is attributed to the Kline headers? I ask because I wasn't planning on getting headers too.

Wow, you'e tried just about all of them! We will be ready, when you are :-)

I have personally experienced all of the above except unobtanium (and I think I have a pretty good idea of how it sounds by looking at it). Each have their unique sound. I feel confident that you would be extremely pleased with a SpeedTech.

I have the SpeedTech exhaust on my Turbo S. It's the 2.5" no muffler, with factory cats. Very quiet when cruising with no drone, but open it up and it really roars. Perfect for what I wanted and I'm very happy with my choice.
I also have the Kline SS headers but I really don't think they make any difference in the sound.

Ditto above. I am very happy with the exact same set-up on my Turbo S and very happy with SpeedTech.

I never tried a 3" inconel on this particular car.
I have Sam's stage 5 turbos, and Sould comp X pipe with cat delete. Would you attempt to descrip the difference between this set up with stock headers and the Kline? I'll have to ask Sam about reducing my pops. It damn near shotgun loud now. I like them but would like something between what I have now and what yours is in ther video.

I'm also considerring adding quarter wave pipes to target the 1800-2200 rmp drone.

I just got curious and went and measured my Soul Comp Xpipe and deletes. The OD measures 3". I had been led to believe the Soul was more restrive than Kline. Not sure why. There are a few neckdowns where the pipes join. Could be the reason.

They target the exact rpm and wave frequency cancelling out the drone. Do some reading on J pipe/ Helmholtz/ quarter wave resonator
