Default PCCB caliper DAMAGE!!

What would cause this scrape on LF PCCB caliper of 2015 Turbo S. Changed tires yesterday and noticed this. Last tire change by Porsche dealer and no mention. Any comments?

Just be happy the $6000 rotor was not damaged. A scrape on the caliper won’t hurt anything.

The minimal clearance. You're not the first, unfortunately. Is the barrel scraped too?

Default Barrel Inspection

There is a 1/16 inch scrape through the black paint to the bare aluminum but not deep. The scrape is full circle in the middle of the rim!!!!!

Yep. Happens with PCCBs. My GT4 has the same thing. Barrel scratched and caliper looks similar.

Just superficial damage to the paint. The caliper itself should be fine.

I hope you found the offending rock and dealt with it.

This happened with the PCCBs in my 997 Turbo, and it happened with the PCCBs in my 991 Turbo S. The sound when a rock gets caught between the caliper and the wheel is nothing short of horrendous.

Yeah pretty common with these. Rocks get caught between caliper and wheel. I'd put some touchup paint on it for now. Can always repaint the caliper later on when you have time.

Most probably already know this...

.. if you hear a scraping from your wheels/brakes that might be a rock you picked between your caliper and wheel (or worse, scraping against your rotor), stop in a safe place, back up quickly and brake hard in reverse. Several times.... This will usually clear the offending rock and prevent further damage.

BMW's do this too, or anything with big calipers/rotors. Don't worry about it at all.

Not if it gets into the barrel of a front wheel. The clearance between the wheel and the caliper is only a few millimeters.
