Default 2015 GT3 PURCHASE

Thanks for replying to my PCCB caliper issue. Do not ever remember hearing scraping noises!!!!!!

I am contemplating purchasing a 2015 GT3 that I really like as far as color (yellow), options, and especially price. It is my understanding that PDK was the only trans available and the engine had issues and many were replaced.

Should I just look for a newer year or buy this one?

Any comments are appreciated!!!!!!

Had a 2014 GT3 and absolutely loved that car. Put many many track miles and street miles on it and it never skipped a beat. That being said get a ppi done at your local Porsche dealer before hand to make sure everything is in order. The car should come with the 10yr 100k mile warranty on the motor from the factory. Amazing car though, GL.

All 991.1 (2014-2016) GT3's were susceptible to engine issues (you can search for finger follower issues). At the 100,000 foot level. There was a stop sale (in 2014) and the engines were replaced - either before they were shipped at the factory or after they were shipped at the dealership. The engines series were E,F, G (maybe D were the original ones? My memory is getting old). If you find a car with a replaced engine, the G is the most reliable (and the latest version of the G is the best - obviously). Porsche eventually extended the warranty for the failures they are susceptible to for 10 years and 100K miles. The 2018's and 2019's are the 991.2 new engine 4.0 vs 3.8. But you will pay $30-40K more for a 991.2 vs a 991.1. Some 2014's had "branded" titles - not 2015 or 2016's. If u get a 2015 you are covered till 2025. Overall they seem to be good cars.

If I were to buy a GT3, it would be 2017+ for several reasons.

The 14-16 will have a nice engine warranty, but it's a slouch compared to the new one.

*Some say the 3.8 sounds better than the 4.0... I might agree with that.
