Default Rennline phone mount with Apple Magsafe

Thought I’d post this up for anyone interested.

Like many of you, I purchased the Rennline magnetic phone mount for my 991 a few months back. I actually swapped out the magnet holder for a iOttie mount which attached easily.

I upgraded to the new iPhone Pro last week and with it, got a clear MagSafe case and the the charger. I was playing around with the charger and figured I would try to see if I could use it in the car.

Turns out, using The Rennline provided magnet, you can attach the MagSafe disc to it, and then, use the charger to not only hold your phone in place, but charge it “wirelessly”.

I’ve only tested it a couple days, but so far so good. Probably would not work for a track day (I use a heavy duty windshield mount to record footage anyways), but once I’ve “blacked” it out, I think this will be a good daily option.

Figured I’d share for those interested - pics below.

cheers!

How does the Rennline mount attach?
I have not seen any good images of how it attaches to the center console.
Additionally, will the magnet work on a phone with an Otter Box case?

Here are details on how the Rennline mounts. It’s pretty straight forward.

https://www.rennline.com/Porsche-991...tinfo/PM01.04/

If the new otter box cases have MagSafe built in, then you should be good to go. I’ve not looked into that honestly.

Wow, thanks, very helpful and answered all my questions.
I must have glossed over it at their site.

I just use the retractable cup holder at it’s smallest closure. Works perfectly for an iPhone. Lol

That's actually not a bad idea.

ha! That’s exactly what I used to do. But as I use my phone for Waze, music etc - and more intuitive than the PCM, this seems like a better widget!

Thanks for posting this. So the MageSafe charger magnet will attach to the Rennline magnet with enough strength to hang the phone on it? That’s really good news.

What is the brand and model number of the MagSafe Charger? And so I understand correctly it just is placed over the magnetic Rennline mount correct?

Thank you in advance!
