I see. I misunderstood the original post. I have a Rennline phone mount myself, that I combined with a Spiegel charger. I just saw that Spiegel now has a Magsafe charger as well, but then I also saw this post.

That’s exactly right. I’ve since switched to using this to hold the MagSafe charger and attach it to the Rennline mount. Both work great.

Yes. It’s thankfully a very simple way to use MagSafe charging with the existing Rennline mount. Works very well.
For those that have wired CarPlay only you need this device...just plug it into the USB in your armrest and viola wireless CarPlay...use it myself, works perfectly

I also modded the spiegel charger to the rennline mount.
I swapped the ball from the spiegel to the rennline mount, reattached with an M4 x 0.7 thread approx 10mm length screw. I trimmed one I had around to fit.
my rennline mount is the “upper” version, and my iPhone 12 eclipses almost a quarter of the PCM screen.
you’ll also need a right angle usb c cord for this install because the MagSafe comes way closer too the side trim.
I bought a usb c car charger on Amazon. came together nice. Pics to follow.

I ran the iPhone USB power wire to the USB under the armrest to a point just aft of my Rennline mount as seen in the picture. Although the Rennline magnet mount has a magnet, it is not very powerful and my IP12 would slide off. So I took an Apple MagSafe charger and clipped off the power cord very close to the circular pad. It easily magnetically sticks to the Rennline magnet and then the phone sticks to the Magsafe. With this attachment and cord I am able to keep my IP12 in place and use the corded Apple Play.

It fits perfectly to replace the previous magnet.

I did this today.
Took the Rennline phone mount and added the Spiegel MagSafe charger on top. Works great!

Gents, any tips for separating the ball from the Spiegel mount? I bought one and sheared the bolt off while trying to unscrew the ball and was not very successful with an easy out screw extractor to fix my mistake. I figured I was just being ham handed with the first one, and picked up a second one to try again. This one is also very tight, so I wanted to check in on the method you guys used? Thanks!

It just needs to be unscrewed. I held the ball tight with a microfiber towel wrapped around the ball and some pliers and then was able to get the screw out without scratching the ball.

Got it, thanks! That's the same method I first used. Maybe the first was overtightened from the factory and was destined to fail from the start. I was surprised how easily it sheered, and was scared to do the same thing again since I am now working with one of the more expensive mag safe chargers (Rennline mount + Spiegel Number Two + Spiegel Number Two!)
