Reason I ask is many years ago I picked up a screw in a z-rated tire and plugged it.
All was well until one day I ran the car up to about 120mph and had belt separation in the tire from the belts being cut/compromised.
Ended up with a bubble in the tire and had to replace it.
Plug, probably not tracking or racing, but certainly within limits on the highway.

Patch, no problems all steetable applications, except for maybe a dedicated track tyre - those with more track experience can chime in, but it would appear reasonable. On the other hand, it is unlikely roofing tacks en up on the track, so carcass failure is probably a more likely scenario for a track tyre.

The issue with the plug is that once the tyre gets warm, it is in fact possible to pull the plug out if you are hard on it, which could result in catastrophic failure.

I think I mentioned earlier that I have had more punctures on the 991 than anything else in the last 25 odd years, but every time something is in it, I have the tyre removed from the rim, and patched.

As far as longevity is concerned, I ran the car reasonably hard for a little over 2000kms at the end of September with no tyre issues, patches and all.

That case, and those heat sinks, look like they're made out of plastic - is that accurate?

Got the seats all adjusted and the alcantra pads on there...those are the temporary pads, I having a set diamond stitched on order in the same yellow as the stitching in the rest of the car.

Did a two hour drive and felt great...easy enough to get in and out of the car with the top down...easy enough to get out with the top up but hard to get in with the top up...I highly recommend the Tillets...ultra lightweight carbon fiber and form fitted perfectly to your body so they are very comfortable despite being stiff and lightweight, great balance of all three....but

if I had a coupe I’d get the B5’s not the B7’s because they have a lower seat side bolster for easier ingress and egress

this is the B5

here are picks of the B7’s in my car

Are the seats as low as they look in the picture? What mounting holes do you have them on?

Also, how do the pads attach?

I sure wish you were closer, i'd love to try those seats on!

if your ever in my neck of the woods message me

i have them on the highest holes which puts my butt about the same distance from the floor as I was in the stock seats....they are not as low as the look.

they are reclined about a half inch too much for my best position so I’ll probably adjust that tomorrow but there is plenty of adjustment there to make

Does the thinness of the seat allow for clearance to change the height/angle without pulling the entire seat? On other race seats I've had (996 Turbo), it was always a surprisingly big hassle to make a simple change....

haven’t tried yet but it’s pretty easy to remove these seats on the bases...4 bolts that are easy to get to without knuckle banging or being in a contortionist, and they only weigh 17-18 pounds on the bases so they aren’t hard to move around

I looked and there’s actually plenty of room to get an Alan wrench or a short ratchet in there to change the bolt locations

oh, abs the pads attach with what looks like one inch 3m double sided tape that’s already on the pads in the right locations, seems to hold pretty well, the pads are backs by a layer of them fiberglass that conforms to the seat mold perfectly

yes

but as it’s plastic I think they are less heat sinks and more there to prevent crushing of the module underneath

Yesterday was a fun day. Installation of my DSC V3 - seen in between the new wheels. And my new HRE R101LW's. And new Michelin PS4's. And for fun the Carbonlution CF side intakes.

Always good to see the Kline headers and exhaust when its up on the jack.

Carbonlution vents - took a while - but they look pretty good..

Vent installed - pretty flush

Getting mounted

Final product - tires need shining - but look pretty good

Mounting complete

At home. I'll give a review - next post..

So as you can see above - had a few things done. Oh my what a difference - obviously i have new tires, DSC and new wheels so I am not sure how much of the difference is attributable to each individual component, but the ride and handling is a transformational difference. I drove home up the 405 and ordinarily even in normal suspension mode the ride is a bit jarring on the uneven surface. With DSC and the other new stuff - it just soaks up the bumps - just so much better. Sorry, I am not a car journalist but the ride is a pretty big difference from before. My old tires are still in good shape - so i don't believe that the tires were the bulk of the difference. I'd have to go the DSC the credit. Drove around on winding roads too and i am very happy with where the car is at right now. Obviously i am very happy with the HRE's - I personally think they look good and saved a little weight. And finally the Carbonlution vents - a little bling- actually fit well and look decent.

So after doing these mods - I am really enjoying the car that much more. I was starting to get car ADD and started to think about the 992 TT/S. I am now thinking that this car is almost perfect as a DD / sporty cab / all arounder. With the extra power and TQ, its a medium-beast. There could be more power to be had but for right now 600+HP/TQ is a big difference from stock. Plus with DSC and wheels - the ride / handling is up a level. I have the Burm - I am set for now. Maybe the 992 will have to wait - we shall see.

And a big shout out and thanks to Sambo TT, ByDesign and the guys at World. Sam met me there and the job was done while we chatted about car stuff. Outstanding service and just a great group of guys. Responsive and no pressure and at your fingertips should you need it. Saw some other fun projects in progress at the shop to include an XR build a GT3RS a 2009 manual 997 Turbo etc. Kinda like Disneyland for Porsche guys.

Anyways, I'm a happy camper.

They are beautifully blued - looks great, and I like your logic on the 992tt. I am still waiting to go and see one as I am curious, but after a recent long run through the mountains, with less mods than yours, am thinking the 991.2 is likely going to stick around for awhile...

I think you need some side skirts.
