TPMS Sensors not learning

Mine have lasted five years, five months, going to the tyre shop tomorrow to replace them ... Very irritating.
Am tempted to change the ones on the OEM rims too as they are currently off the car.

I think the batteries generally last for about seven years or so. This was the case in my 997. Are they different in the 991 cars? Come to think of it… my car is nine years old and I’ve never had an issue with a TPMS sensor battery.

Porsche changed TPMS technology in 2009. The sensors in my 2010 C4S are still the originals with 153K miles on the odometer.
And while I'm typing, by way of introduction, a good friend just bought a 2015 TTS from another Forum member here, upgrading from a beautiful 997 GTS. Since we share maintenance tasks amongst our cars, I've been lurking to learn anything that might help in that regard.
I've been very impressed with the group input here. Thanks for what I've already learned and will learn in the future from all of you.

ok...i just had this problem.....they worked with my summer wheels but wouldn't learn winter wheels. Then when i put the original summer wheels on...it sis not learn them either.
here is the trick....go onto your tpms settings and select winter or summer check box. If it's on summer, then select winter or if it winter select summer. The key is change the setting....and boom! Learned immediately!

There is a section in the owner's manual specifying that.

I also seem to recall that after swapping, the car needs to sit for maybe an hour completely shut-down before starting the drive and re-learn process. So if it doesn't work the first time, try that.

Also keep in mind, the 991.1 and the 991.2 use different sensors. When I purchased my HRE Wheels/tires they installed 991.2 TPMS sensors in them. You can drive forever and they'll never register. Once swapped they registered in about a mile. Always use the summer/winter/summer trick to force it into "Learning" mode.
