Oil Service Needed?
Hello - I'm a new 2015 991.1 Turbo owner and from the gist of these threads, proper use is TT for a non-S and TTS for S variation? I apologize as I'm learning the acronyms on this forum.
I just purchased my vehicle with 4900 miles and from the service records (Car Fax), the last oil change was Oct 2017 at 4600 miles. I know Porsche recommends oil changes every 10K miles or every year. Should I change the oil? And in general, what does a Porsche oil change cost at the dealer?
I'm coming from a 2001 CLK 430 and I just follow the computer telling me when to service which is every 10K....I sort of gave up on changing it every year since it's a very low mileage car at 95K.
Thanks!

If you're not going to drive that car that often change the oil and filter every 2000 miles or at least twice a year. I drive my car primarily on the weekends and I change my oil and filter in the spring and fall before the winter. I don't follow the schedule
in the maintenance manual due to the low miles I place on my car each year. As it is now I only put a little over 3000 miles during my first year of driving. Remember it won't hurt to change the oil a little more often than needed. If anything it will help
your engine.
Hope this helps.

I agree with Jay above. The combustion process adds moisture to the oil which turns to acid. This further degrades the oil turning it into sludge. Can't hurt to change it early. My dealer charges right at $200.00 for an oil change and reset the monitor. But I do it myself for about $50.00 and reset the monitor with my iCarSoft OBD reader.

Isn't the oil change MFD display (service due etc) triggered at 1 year regardless if you drove 300
or 30,000 miles during that time?
Before BMW started including service in the price of their new cars
they pretty much demanded you change oil every 3000 miles.
After service became included you were told you needed to wait till the car's computer
said it was time....if you didn't want to wait, the cost was on you.
This happened to me on a new 540i....no need for oil change at 13,000
miles.
Depends on who is paying.

SF Bay-Area dealer will probably charge $600 for the ‘yearly’ oil and filter service. ... because they can.
Since your TT is a 2015 you will be pressured into also doing either the two or three year maintenance.
This is the simplified bulletized maintenance schedule for 991.1 TT(S)s (assumes no more than 10k-miles per year) and what I would *guess* a Facebook/Apple/Netflix/Google-area Porsche dealer will charge:
Every 1(*) year: engine oil and filter, both cabin filters ($600)
Every 2 years: flush (replace) brake fluid ($1100 including above)
Every 3(4*) years: spark plugs ($2000 including oil and filter)
Every N (where N> =4) years... there are other scheduled tasks but this will have to do for now as reading, interpreting and extracting useful info from the WSM’s schedules makes my eyes bleed.
(*) As far as I can tell the actual factory Work Shop Manual indicates that the engine oil and filter schedule is 2-years/12k-miles. But, common wisdom and Porsche of North America’s wisdom is to change the oil at least yearly. Spark plug replacement interval also differs between the WSM and PCNA’s $ervice $hedule.
Less common wisdom is that changing the brake fluid every two years is not optional. You should look at your previous records. You may be due for a brake fluid change.

Filter and o-ring are ~$25. Two jugs of Walmart M1 0-40 synthetic is $50. The two cabin air filters are about $70.
Depends on who is paying.

I remember something similar at my local BMW dealer. If I was outside of the warranty period and I went in there with the need for brake pads they would insist that I also have to get rotors. They would go into a long explanation of how the previous brake pads wore grooves in the rotors and I couldn’t use the old rotors any longer. But if I went in there still under warranty they would only replace the brake pads and not the rotors some of the time. It definitely depends on who is paying.

Yep, just tell them "Oil and filter change only" and that's it. You don't need anything else. I pay $230 in Virginia for that. Also, if you plan to go anywhere near the track, go ahead and have them flush the brake fluid with DOT4 fluid for another $160.

Whe I got my 2nd 911 I was quoted $300 for just the oil change by Cherry Hill Porsche. I don't know if the price has changed recently. I went to a local guy and brought the oil and filter with me. He charged me about $30 for the labor. He was also able to reset the service light and reports to carfax as well. I am not going to pay $300 for an oil change.
