Default 2015 Turbo S Cab-2018 Turbo S Cab

A small conundrum if you will:

Buy out my current lease on the 15 TTS Cab (32,000 miles) or spec out the new one for more than twice the amount. ($100K vs $208K)? New one will be an 18.

For transparency: My current 15 TS Cab has seem a bunch of track time, but I was a novice/ intermediate at the time. (But it was a bunch), and they have PCCB;s. Pads at 25%. Rotors fine. Rest of car is almost showroom. 32K miles.

Which one?

Thanks..

for me, if happy with the car, I'd buy out the lease, you can negotiate with your dealer (dealer would buy the car from Porsche, then turn around and sell it to you, usually at a reduced price)

there is very little difference between a '15 and an '18 TTS Cab, and these cars are very robust, with 32k miles you have a lot of driving ahead of you

I feel a little differently here. If you were to buy out your '15, I'd strongly recommend having it CPO'd which is an additional $2K - $3K. You are also running into more maintenance requirements and likelihood of weird **** going on as you get higher in mileage. I'd recommend going with the newer car, refresh on warranty, etc...happy holidays!

Thanks. I have a few months to decide, but the new build is already in, just a slight delay in getting the slot into Porsche.

I have a few months to decide, but the advice I'm getting is all over the place.

One thing swaying me towards the 18 TTS is that the 15 has seen some track duty and the new one will see a lot less track time as I recently picked up a 14 981.2 S which has been getting pretty much all the track time lately.

Other than that, the 15 TTS is in great shape, so it's a tough decision. It's my DD and I flat out love it, but getting a new 18 is so tempting, and a lot more $$ as well.

I guess it's not a horrible problem to have.

Kevin, when you say weird $hit as I get higher in mileage, anything in particular you are referring to?

Thanks

I actually would wait... I have a hunch that 2019 will bring changes to the Turbo. The Exclusive Series seems to foreshadow that. Porsche doesn’t seem to leave the Turbo untouched for more than 2 model years. Just a guess.

My guy told me 2020 for the new TTS platform. Then again, he is a Porsche Salesperson.

Anyone have any issues with a 2015 TTS Cab as they miles got into the 60 and 70 K mileage range? (Kevin?)

Thanks

If your buyout is $100k then you have at least $30k of equity in that lease. You can buy it out, and sell it for a profit. Or trade-it instead of returning it for the 2018, and you will get $30k off.

Won't be any changes for 2019. We know the GT3 will have a 2019 model year, which means turbo will continue for 2019 too. I suspect that the Carrera may be replaced with the 992 Carrera in 2019 but I doubt it will get to the Turbo.

Just to recap here is what happened in with the 991:
Car was announced September 2011 to launch initially as just Carrera and Carrera S as a 2012.2 model year.
2012.2 Carrera and Carrera S
2013 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S
2014 GT3, Turbo and Turbo S, Targa and GTS
2015 GT3 RS
2017 991.2 versions of non-GT models

So if we see a similar cycle then 2020 or 2021 will be when we see a new Turbo at the earliest.

Nah...nothing specific...just that higher mileage cars (not that 35K would be considered high) tend to require more maintenance. And, stuff happens...sometimes weird $hit...LOL.

I only have 9K miles on my '15 TTS...and have loved every one of them...I've turned over my 911's generally before they hit 40K miles...

I wouldn't worry too much about the track time. This car is meant for that. If you did your pre checkups and after, you're fine. I'd wait for the '19 if you have a way of doing that. It's not too far away.

'15 to '18, not worth it in my opinion, but everyone's situation is different. If the financial side isn't all that much of a concern for you. Do what makes you happy. At the end of the day, you don't buy a $200k car because it makes sense.

And DRIVE your car and have fun with it. It's only a car after all.

I drive mine all year round, snow, wet, summer.... go to track and drag strip... 19,000 hard driven miles on and enjoying every single one.

Agree 100%, and that's what I've been doing as well.
