All of them, the C7, 991, 488, 720 etc all are close to mid-engined to one extent or another. I believe 'torque' is the true measure that gets you around a track faster. That means when it comes on apposed to having it when the cams kick in or when the turbos are at speed.
I think that's why the 1LE does so well (plus monster size tires) around that track. It's nose heavy, heavy in general, but that 'torque grunt' is what makes the car a star.
Mercedes has more cylinders, liters than the 991 so the torque is almost always there.
The 991's are superior in ride comfort. Those sticky tires the others are using make allot of noise. God forbid they are runflats tires...the ride/noise sucks.
The 991's are superior for all around driving on public roads. If Porsche feels like pushing all the competitors aside only they know how to do it best.

Certeris Paribus, of course.

Yes, that drag race in the above video proves my point.
2016 Tesla Model S P90D
691 hp 713 lb-ft TORQUE
Won the race, no real downforce, more than a thousand pounds heavier
than the competition.
As the late Carroll Shelby once said 'horsepower sells cars, torque wins races'
Pompus Prostateus, of course

If the latter, yes, then torque is a more significant variable.
If the former, I stand by what I said.

I wonder what the Formula 1 engineers have to say?
A ~2007 2.4 litter V8 F1 engine only made about 180 ft-lbs of torque. Yet, do you not believe that any car in that drag race wouldn't have won if equipped with that engine and a gearbox with appropriate gearing?
Simple aphorisms are fun, but like many things in life the truth is more complicated.

I don't know what to think now. I just was trying to figure why the AMG GT-r did so well on the track.
At Nascar down force is everything on large ovals...small ones it's different.
I'm not sure now what to think. Oh well back to the drawing board.

The Turbo S is the best all round sports car in the world. Unfortunately it continues to get penalized for being too capable, with limits well beyond the abilities of most journalists. Unlike the Turbo S, most of the other cars in the test are not suitable for a road trip and I'll bet their maintenance bills after track time are expensive. Sure like to see the Turbo S's time with the same tires as the Merc GT R.

- has roughly similar power/torque as the TTS
- is roughly 100 pounds lighter
- was equipped with R-compound tires
- has a lot more tire (275/325) that the TTS (245/305)
- looks funny
- will, I suspect, be unlivable-with on real streets
The most-pertinent of those are the fatter far-better tires. Those will be worth 5% (or more) in terms of times on road courses.

Thank you Sir!! Crazy thing is my truck is considered "slow" by a lot of current Diesel performance standards. BUT it was a true "daily" truck capable of Hurting LOTS of expensive sports car folks feelings!! lol

PZero Corsa are just slightly better than regular MPSC2, probably the same.
Thay also last the same or slightly longer than MPSC2 on my GT3 - rears wear faster than MPSC2 but fronts slower, so the total set lasts longer because fronts typically go first.
Tire ratings are odd - for example, Pzero Corsa has the same rating as Trofeo R tires, but Trofeo R have much lower starting tread depth and softer compound, so how can they be equal?
