AMG GTS or 991 TTS/TT ?
I know all of you here will pick the obvious on this forum but I need to see things though others eyes/opinions/knowledge to decide to try the Mercedes or stay with the trusted norm for violent speed/handing you get from the 991's.
I have an R8, BMW 650IX coupe, and a 2014 GT500. All have been 'tweaked' on suspensions, motors etc.
Speed is like my guitars for me, I never get tired of them.

If that's your GTS, I'd keep it, that thing looks sick. Love the wheels. I don't think going to a Turbo S will give you any incremental visceral satisfaction (perhaps even less), other than being able to put down the power more easily. But I know the feeling of wanting to change things up.

Porsche 991.2 is quicker in a straight line and on the track.
AMG GT sounds better stock.
AMG GT probably more rare. Shares the same engine as the C63s though.
AWD vs RWD.
Personally I picked the Porsche and cross shopped against the AMG GTs, Audi R8, Jag F Type SVR.
They're pretty different cars IMO.

You should ask @vic55 on M5Post. He has owned both - still does I think.
When I got my CPO 991.1 TTS, I cross shopped against a new AMG GTS which was actually less expensive!
With the GTS I prefer the interior, the electronics, and the sound. The handling is comparable but GTS has great steering. However where the Porsche wins is traction. With this kind of power you can spin wheels on the GTS and you have to feather the throttle out of corners. The ability to get on the throttle earlier, and steer by throttle is much greater with the 991 TTS. On the whole the TTS felt more fun to me, and the GTS required too much concentration on getting everything right.
To me the only car which gives the 991TTS a run for its money is the 2017 R8 V10+

AMG GT-S feels like a step-down from Turbo in many ways - power, precision, technology (driving-related, not the Nav. system). Dynamically, the comparable AMG model would be the GT-C (https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehic...-GT/model-GTCA )
Dynamically, GT-C would be par with Turbo, not GT-S. GT-R is a different story and is not something I'd consider against Turbo but rather against GT3.
Sound is a matter of taste, and probably the only thing I slightly prefer in AMG. AMG also had slightly better steering feel compared to 991.1 but 991.2 addressed this (although 991.1 may have had it improved as well via software updates - I have not driven 991.1 in a while). The biggest detractor to me was that the AMG feels like a big car, where 991 feels smaller than it is, even though it's also a rather big car now. Also, AMG had comparable if slightly less immediate throttle response than 991.1, but 991.2 took it to another level - its anti-lag systems really work, and modulating throttle feels like NA engine. The only way to experience any lag in 991.2 is to floor it after driving slowly for a while (when anti-lag is disengaged, probably for fuel economy).
So for me, 991.2 Turbo S won by a good margin, over GT-S and would probably win over GT-C as well.
But the truth is that in practice both cars are so good that if I did not benefit from 4 seats in 911, I'd probably go with GT-C or GT-R, just to experience something new and different.

I have owned both. FIrst being a 2014 TTS which I had for 2 years, @ 20k miles.
Always wanted to try an AMG and see what the hype was. The good- engine, exhaust sound was fabulous. My TTS was catless with Kline, Tube, etc, still sounded nothing like the AMG GTS.
THe bad- I just could not connect with the car. Front end felt too far ahead and the drive was not as connected at my TTS. I owned the GTS for only 2- 2.5 months before getting back into a 991 Turbo.
I highly suggest you get ample seat time in both cars to make a decision.

Wife did not like GTS due to the huge hood so far out in front of the car.

I haven't read or watched the MT Best Driver's car yet but nice to see the Turbo up there. In my mind, I basically cross off cars like the 488 since any car in the unobtainable category (price and availability) doesn't really count for me, even if it deserves its place at the top. And ouch for the 570, behind the Lexus!
