Anyone NOT order the front lift system?
#16
I wish I didn't need it but I use it frequently. One area where it is very handy is loading the car on the trailer. Nose won't clear the ramps without it lifted.
I didn't have it on my 7GT3 though and didn't really lose any sleep over it. Splitter is a wear part.

Haven't had it on my 997 GT3, 991 GT3, or 991 RS. Only one I regretted was the 997.

Funny yeah I do wish I had it on the 997 turbo...had to change out the splitter for the techart kit and add a skid plate

I have a GT4 which wasn't offered with the lift. My front lip is all chewed up. My driveway is reason enough to have it, although if I angle it right and CREEP down and out I can avoid the scrape. But there are other places - the post office I use, my dentist's office - where it's not just a scrape but OMG I think the whole front spoiler is about to come off. So as long as I've had the GT4 I've said if I ever get a GT3 it will have the lift. So I ordered it. Although, the cost will buy a lot of front lips. So I've gone back and forth. At the end of the day the factor that most persuaded me is that NOT having it is much more likely to be a deal breaker on resale than having it.
Oh, and I also have a friend with an RS and his is pretty much track-only and he has it and says he would get it again even though it's track only, just for loading it on the trailer. And while the probability may be low, it could save more than the lip, it could save the whole front aero if you find yourself in an unexpected steep situation (as I have in the mountains!)
All that said, I was persuaded to get it for all the reasons I outlined but part of me would still rather save the money, save the weight, and have one less moving part to worry about repairing. Which I'm sure helps you not at all. There is always a market for a true stripper but there is a larger market for one with a lift. If that matters, I'd get it. Plus, I guess I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Had it on 991.1 GT3 never used it for "need" but just had fun raising and lowering. It never broke.
Ordered it on 991.1 GT3 RS - it malfunctioned and was fixed under warranty ----> this prevented me from ordering it on 991.2 GT3 plus the novelty feel expired (same reason for not ordering LED Headlights)

My GT3.1 had it, never used it. As result I ordered my RS without it. However, on my GT3.2 I ordered the lift because of 2 reasons:
1. ED plans--- not sure what will get thrown at me on my travels; I've bottomed out much higher cars on those damn tight/steep European parking garages.
2. This GT3.2 is being built to drive, anytime/all the time. Hopefully long trips, 4 seasons. As such, per #1 just planning ahead for whatever this wonderful earth throws at me.
If just for local drives, just pay attention to usual routes and see what's around. Locally I would never use it, but my plans are far greater. Enjoy!

Have the front-end lift on my 991.1 GT3. A day has never gone by that I haven't used it. My driveway; my work driveway; my grocery store driveway; speed bumps; drainage at intersections -- I use it for all of them. And my front splitter is still all torn up and looks like heck. About the only time I don't use it is when I'm actually on the track.
Obviously - I couldn't live without it. YMMV.

In addition to my comments in another thread, it seems most cars I looked at when searching for a GT3, over 90% had the FAL. Personally, I could not purchase a GT3 without it due to the condition of the roads and driveways where I reside. Good luck.

Is today lift day?
So many threads on topic as old as dirt.

In Los Angeles, despite my best efforts, I scrape up the front lip of my 991.1 GTS all of the time. The 991.2 GT3 sits even lower. I would scrape up the front of the car probably within 24 hours of driving it off of the lot if I purchased it without the front axle lift. I even considered modifying my GTS to add a lift but it would have cost 10k so I passed. If I get a coveted GT3 allocation, the lift is a must-have option for me.

I stopped wasting money on this a few gt cars ago
